The long-awaited follow-up for the beloved tactical-fps CS:GO is finally here. A few minutes ago, Valve dropped the set of first three trailers for Counter-Strike 2, the sequel to CS:GO. With Valve and CS:GO Twitter teasing the game for almost a week now, We finally get the first official confirmation for Counter-Strike 2. The set of three trailers of Counter-Strike 2 introduces us to the new smoke grenades, a tick-less system for the game and updated cleaner maps.

Starting March 4th, Gabe Follower 2(@gabefollower) and Aquarius(@aquaismissing) have been closely monitoring Valve to get any and every update on Counter-Strike new version/update. With added Nvidia driver support, Richard Lewis confirming the rumor, it was evident Counter-Strike 2 was coming. CS:GO Twitter, the official Twitter for all things Counter-Strike, teased the upcoming version through banners, and the community started speculating. Last night, CS:GO Twitter changed its banner again last night, teasing it further. While many saw it as a teaser, others were still paranoid.

Counter-Strike's next game has been a big thing for a while, and it is not a surprise that some of the community was still paranoid of there being a release anytime soon.

What to expect from Counter-Strike 2?

Some time ago, CS:GO Twitter finally announced Counter-Strike 2. The latest version of Counter-Strike will be " an overhaul to every system, every piece of content, and every part of the C-S experience". The first major part of the update will be how smokes work. The new dynamic smokes interact better and are a global 3-d object on the server (no one-ways). Additionally, this means the smokes now interact with bullets, other grenades and map variables.

CS2 also introduces a tick-less system in contrast to the previous sub-tick system. The tick-less system means real-time updates to and from the server, creating a smoother and seamless gaming experience. On the other hand, this gives a significant advantage to players with lower latency.

Additionally, Valve has reworked all the maps to make them feel and play better. The maps are reworked based on the Source 2 engine. The weapon skins also get an update. All the skins will look better in the new Counter-strike.

CS2 Limited Tests:

Valve will launch the new Version of Counter-Strike 2 in Summer 2023. The limited tests for CS2 start today. Players eligible for limited testing of Counter-Strike 2.0 will receive an in-game notification in CS:GO starting today to opt-in for the program. The testing will increase regularly, so everyone needs to keep checking CS:GO for an invite. Initially, players can play Deathmatch and unranked competitive mode on Dust2. Valve will add additional modes and maps soon. You can read more about the Limited Tests here.

CS:GO already sees newer heights in the daily active players. With CS2 launching soon, more players will pour into the game, preparing for the launch of Counter-Strike 2. Currently, there is no information on how the game will affect the Counter-Strike Esports scene, but Valve has a plan for a smooth transition. Valve will release more information eventually before the game's global launch in the Summer of 2023. The community can follow CS2 updates on CS:GO Twitter and the CS:GO blog.

You can follow Strafe for updates on CS2, CS esports and more...
