The VCT Pacific Stage 1 Playoffs Day 1 showcased thrilling matchups and unexpected twists that left fans on the edge of their seats.

Paper Rex delivered an awe-inspiring performance against Talon Esports, achieving an unprecedented 13-0 victory on Lotus. Thus, setting the stage for an exciting tournament ahead.

Paper Rex vs Talon Esports

In the second match of the day between Paper Rex and Talon Esports, PRX set the stage ablaze with a flawless performance on Lotus. Achieving an unprecedented 13-0 victory and etching their name in Valorant history. They became the first team to secure a flawless map win across all regional leagues this year.

Showing off a very strong attack side, PRX completely dominated the map. Talon were left with nothing, as everything they did fell short of the behemoth that was PRX. In the second half, PRX decided to end things quickly in the pistol to close out the map at a flawless 13-0.

“It’s good for moral, but even then, I feel like we should’ve played a lot better on Map 2, so it doesn’t mean anything in the end.”
-Alexandre "alecks" Sallé on Paper Rex beating Talon 13-0 on Map 1

However, Talon refused to concede defeat. Swiftly retaliating on Bind, particularly on their attack side, propelled them to a commanding 9-3 lead at halftime. Despite PRX's valiant efforts to stage a comeback in the second half, Talon maintained their composure. And secured the map with a convincing 13-7 scoreline.

“We’re mentally tough. Probably our best asset is that we’re not soft. Not only were they laughing and making jokes about it, it didn’t even derail the game plan going into map 2.”
-Hector "FrosT" Rosario on his team bouncing back from a 13-0 loss.

Undeterred, PRX reclaimed their momentum on Sunset. Securing a commanding lead of 8 rounds at the outset and concluding the first half with a dominant 10-2 advantage. Although Talon mounted a spirited defense in the latter half of the map, PRX's early lead proved insurmountable. They secured a hard-fought 13-9 victory, sealing their path to the Upper Bracket Semifinals against Korean powerhouse, DRX.

“I think they’re in incredible form right now, so we’re going to have to take it very seriously, like we do all the games… I’m glad we could hide some of our stuff, so we have more stuff for DRX. So at least we can rely on that. We’re prepared for the whole week”
-Alexandre "alecks" Sallé on the next matchup against DRX

With both Team Secret and Talon Esports eliminated from the tournament, the stage is set for further exhilarating matchups and unexpected twists in the VCT Pacific Stage 1 Playoffs.
