Gen.G has signed Kim “MaKo” Myeong-gwan and Lee “Dambi” Hyuk-kyu for its 2027 VALORANT roster, the organization announced on Friday, November 6. The signings follow a disappointing 2026 season in which the South Korean team failed to appear at any international tournaments.

Both players were introduced during a livestream hosted by Kim “t3xture” Na-ra on SOOP. Gen.G also confirmed that Kim “Karon” Won-tae will remain with the team. Four of the five starting spots are now filled, with the final position still up for grabs.

Dambi Joins Gen.G After Winning Masters Santiago 2026

Dambi is the latest player to depart Nongshim RedForce. The duelist played a major role in the team's Masters Santiago 2026 title run, which ended with a 3-0 sweep of Paper Rex in the grand final. He was also named the tournament's MVP.

Best known for his aggressive Neon play and use of the Judge, Dambi also expanded his agent pool throughout the season. His rise through competitive VALORANT has been remarkable: he started in Premier, won Ascension with the Sin Prisa Gaming core and eventually lifted an international trophy with Nongshim.

Dambi's move to Gen.G had already been reported by Sheep Esports earlier this week. The transfer also comes with an interesting twist: back in August, Dambi helped Nongshim eliminate his new team from the VCT Pacific Stage 2 playoffs with a 2-1 victory.

MaKo Leaves DRX After Five Years

While Dambi arrives fresh off his first international title, MaKo is beginning a new chapter after five years with the same organization. The controller began his professional career with Vision Strikers in 2021 and remained on the roster when the team became part of DRX in 2022.

During that time, MaKo established himself as one of DRX's standout players. He competed in eight international tournaments, helped the team finish third at VALORANT Champions in both 2022 and 2025, and won VCT Pacific Kickoff 2025. Individually, he was also recognized as Controller of the Year in 2023 and 2025.

His transfer comes amid a major roster rebuild at DRX, which announced several player departures in October. Both DRX and Nongshim RedForce missed out on the new VCT Pacific partnership cycle, while Gen.G retained its place among the selected organizations for 2027 and 2028.

What Does Gen.G's 2027 Roster Look Like?

With MaKo, Dambi, Karon and t3xture confirmed, Gen.G retains two members of its Masters Shanghai 2024 championship-winning lineup while adding players with very different backgrounds. However, the roster still raises questions about how the team will distribute roles.

MaKo and Karon are primarily controller players, while Dambi and t3xture are best known for playing duelists. Gen.G will therefore need to make adjustments to its agent compositions, whether that means moving players into different roles or building strategies around their strengths on specific maps.

The fifth roster spot has yet to be filled. During the announcement stream, t3xture said the organization is currently trialing players and will reveal its final starter at a later date. Gen.G has also yet to confirm who will serve as its in-game leader (IGL). MaKo previously held that responsibility at DRX, but there is no confirmation that he will take over the role at Gen.G.

The rebuild comes just days after the November 3 departures of Ha “Ash” Hyun-cheol, Kim “Efina” Nak-yeon and coach Jung “peri” Beom-gi. In 2026, Gen.G went undefeated in the VCT Pacific Stage 2 group stage with a 5-0 record, only to be eliminated from the playoffs following losses to Nongshim RedForce and T1.

Gen.G will now look to recapture the success it enjoyed in 2024. With two major signings confirmed, the organization still needs to finalize its fifth player and determine how the coaching staff will shape the roster for the upcoming season.
