The prediction markets scene has been a buzz of activity with new sites launching regularly. One of the latest entrants is Gemini Predictions. I have compiled this Gemini review to share everything you should know about the site.
I enjoyed my time on the platform, and it was easy to buy and sell future event prediction contracts. My review will unpack all the core features, including the legal background of the site and how to read and understand market prices when trading prediction contracts. Come tag along to get the scoop on Gemini Predictions!
When I compiled my Coinbase review, I explained the fundamentals of prediction sites and how they are federally available in the US. The good news is that Gemini is a legitimate prediction site.
The platform is regulated by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) and operates as a Designated Contract Market (DCM). Since Gemini is CFTC-regulated, it is federally available in all 50 US states. If you are 18+ and reside in the US, you can use the banners on this page to join the prediction site.
While investigating the framework of the site, I also critiqued the security features. I was pleased to find that Gemini prioritizes prediction trader safety and the safety measures include KYC checks, password-protected accounts and an encrypted banking platform.
At the time of writing this Gemini review, there are no exclusive welcome bonuses for prediction traders. While this is disappointing to find, not many prediction market platforms offer welcome offers tailored for prediction trading, so it is not that surprising.
However, I hope that once the platform finds its footing in the industry, there will be a tailored future event prediction trading bonus for newcomers. Should that be the case, I will update this review with the relevant details, so check back regularly.
Although you may not find any sign up offers, there are several existing user promotions for prediction trading. These rewards include a market maker program, a maker rebate program, liquidity rewards, and taker rewards.
I have unpacked each of these rewards programs in more detail with my Gemini promo code review, so make sure you read that guide before creating a new account. My bonus review also shares several tips you can use to make the most out of your time when buying and selling future event prediction positions.
Just as I shared in my Moomoo review, before you can buy and sell prediction contracts, you first need to create a new account. The same applies at Gemini, and all prediction traders must create a prediction trading account. Signing up is quick and easy, and below is a guide on how to register with the platform without needing any promo codes:
Use the banners on this page to access the official Gemini Predictions website.
Select the Get Started button at the top of the page.
Choose whether you want to sign up using your Google, Apple or email account.
If you chose the email option, enter your email address.
Choose the US as your country and select English as your preferred language.
Read and accept the terms and conditions.
Create a password for your prediction trading account.
Enter the six-digit verification code sent to your email address.
Once your account is created and verified, you can then fund your prediction trading account and start buying and selling future event prediction contracts.
Now that you know what Gemini is and how to create a new account, now it is time to understand everything about Gemini prediction markets and how the actual prediction training experience works. In a nutshell, Gemini provides you with a platform to make prediction trades on the outcome of real-world events.
All prediction trades are in binary form (Yes/No), and prices range from $0.01 and $0.99. Winning prediction positions settle at $1, while losing prediction contracts close at $0.
Since it is not a sportsbook, Gemini does not set the prices of any prediction contract. Instead, the price of every prediction contract is based on the number of prediction trades made by other users on the likelihood of an event occurring. The higher the price or probability, the more likely the traders believe a specific outcome will occur.
There are several Gemini markets but you can categorize the prediction contracts into five broad events: sports results, crypto projections, political forecasts, cultural outcomes, and economic indicators. Prediction traders can buy and sell prediction contracts for these real-world events.
The table below unpacks the main types of prediction contracts for each event, along with an example of common prediction contracts found on Gemini:
| Future event | Types | Prediction contract example |
|---|---|---|
| Sports | Tennis, Soccer, Golf, Pro Baseball, Football, Pro Basketball, Match winners, Championship winners, MVPs | 2027 Pro Basketball Champion? |
| Crypto | 5-minute, 15-minute, hourly, daily, and weekly | Solana Up or Down - 5 min price? |
| Politics | Presidential, Congressional, Local, International, and Courts | 2028 Presidential Election Winner? |
| Culture | Award winners | 2026 Nobel Peace Prize Winner? |
| Economic | Fed and Macro indicators | Recession this year? |
As I earlier stated, Gemini does not set its own prediction market prices. Reading prediction market prices as probabilities is simple: the higher the price, the more likely the specific event is to occur.
For example, if the Kansas City Chiefs are $0.75 or 75% to beat the Buffalo Bills, it means prediction traders believe the Chiefs have a 75% chance of winning.
If you purchase $100 or Yes prediction contracts for the Chiefs to beat the Bills, you will receive 133.33 prediction contracts. If the Chiefs win, you will receive $133.33, minus any fees. However, if the Bills beat the Chiefs, your prediction contract settles at $0, and you will lose your $100 initial investment.
The Gemini prediction trading fees are based on the order type. Maker orders provide liquidity, and taker orders take liquidity. Therefore, there will be different maker and taker fees. It is important to remember that taker orders are matched immediately and do not rest on the order book, while maker orders are not matched immediately and thus do rest on the order book.
Taker orders have a fixed taker rate of 0.07, and maker orders have a fixed maker rate of 0.0175. Below is the formula used to calculate both taker and maker fees:
Where:
Using the Kansas City Chiefs example and the taker fee formula above, you can calculate the specific Gemini fee for purchasing $100 of Yes prediction contracts on the Chiefs beating the Bills. In that case, you would pay $100 to receive 133.33 contracts and should the Chiefs win, you would receive $133.33 - $1.31 (taker fee is 0.07 x 100 x 0.75 x (1 - 0.75)), so a total return of $132.02 ($32.02 in profit).
Similar to the banking platform discussed in my Sleeper Markets review, there is also an encrypted banking platform on Gemini. You should not worry about your funds going missing or your private details being stolen.
You can fund your account using both cryptocurrency and FIAT. The available payment methods include debit cards, PayPal, ACH Transfer, Wire Transfer and several cryptocurrency tokens, such as Bitcoin and Litecoin. Per the terms and conditions, there are some deposit fees for select payment options. At the time of writing, debit card payments have a 3.49% fee, and PayPal deposits incur a 2.50% charge.
You will only be allowed to withdraw from the site once you have submitted your KYC documents (proof of ID and address) for user account verification. The withdrawal options cover crypto wallets, ACH Transfer and Wire Transfer.
If you are withdrawing to an external crypto wallet, Gemini will implement dynamic withdrawal fees to cover network gas fees. Also, you should note that while ACH Transfer withdrawals are free, there is a $25 fee for Wire Transfers. From my experience of withdrawing on the platform, crypto withdrawals are processed within 24 hours, while it can take between 3 and 5 days for bank transfers.
While Gemini Predictions may be new to the scene, Gemini has been around for a while now, and the cryptocurrency exchange and custodian has always had a user-friendly desktop site.
If you did not know, the orange, black and white colors are also used for prediction trading. As covered in other Gemini reviews, the prediction platform is incorporated into the main website, and you can click the ‘Predictions’ banner to access the prediction markets.
When I first accessed the prediction site, I was impressed with the layout and how easy it was to switch between the different future event prediction options. There are several banners which make it easy to find what you are looking for, and the search tool is a nice touch which saves plenty of time if you are searching for specific future event prediction markets.
I also liked that everything has its place on the site, and there is no clutter. I spent time browsing every section of the desktop website, and all pages loaded quickly. Overall, I enjoyed using the desktop website, and if I had to rate the site, I would give the platform a solid 9/10 for the desktop’s usability, look and feel.
If you are one of those prediction traders who are always on the move, then you should be pleased to learn that you can trade prediction positions with your mobile device on Gemini.
There are dedicated apps for iOS and Android, and you can download these apps from the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. I downloaded both apps and was impressed with how easy it was to make prediction trades while out and about. Both apps mirror each other, so you will not miss out on any specific features.
If you have limited storage space on your device, then instead of downloading any apps, you can use the mobile-optimized website. The mobile site is compatible with most devices, including Android and iOS. To access the mobile platform, enter the Gemini URL into your browser, and the site should load within seconds.
The mobile website mirrors the desktop version, so you can enjoy the same features as when using your PC or laptop. Despite the smaller screens, Gemini has optimized the displays and nothing is cut or excluded while viewing future event protection contracts with a mobile device.
However, from my experience, just ensure that you have a stable internet connection when making prediction trades on the go, otherwise market price displays may lag, and the overall experience may not be the best.
If you need to get in touch with the support team on Gemini, you should expect friendly and responsive customer service. Before making contact, I encourage you to browse the Help Center. There are several guides to read through, including the fee schedule and how prediction trading works.
If you still need assistance, there is an AI chatbot which provides detailed answers for common queries. However, if you need to get in touch with a human agent, then you can either leave a message or email the team. I preferred to send the team an email, as I could share supporting documents as attachments if needed. As covered in other reviews, you may have to wait several hours for a response, but the agents are friendly, knowledgeable and provide accurate feedback.
That is it for this Gemini review, and as you can see, the platform is a welcome addition to the prediction market scene in the US. As one of the newer sites, there are some teething issues, and one feature that could do with an upgrade is the bonuses and promotions. While there are plenty of existing prediction trader rewards, there are no welcome offers, and I hope to see exclusive sign up prediction bonuses in the coming weeks and months.
When it comes to the actual prediction trading experience, the platform has done well. There are plenty of Gemini markets for several future events prediction markets, such as sports, culture, economics, politics and crypto outcomes.
You can buy and sell future event prediction positions while using the desktop site and even while out and about with the mobile apps and mobile website. However, just remember to keep an eye on market volumes, as this plays an important role if you want to close your prediction positions early.
Before I go, if you are ready to give Gemini a go, then the first step is to create a new account. To fast-track your registration, use the links or banners on this page to get started. Have fun and be responsible when making prediction trades!
