We grew up watching basketball. Arguing on the way home from school about who was getting traded, who was getting paid, and who was going to win it all. We called it. Every time. Nobody believed us then.
But you know what? NBA prediction market sites finally exist. And we are not being dramatic when we say this is what serious NBA fans have been waiting for; a real live prediction market where you buy and sell contracts based on real NBA outcomes. We went hands-on across three of the best NBA prediction market sites available right now.
A prediction market site is a regulated financial exchange, real money is involved in trading, and traders’ sentiment sets the contract prices. This means that pricing is also based on collective belief rather than a fixed line being set by the site.
Every contract on an NBA prediction market is worth exactly $1 after the event settles and the prediction is correct, and $0 if it does not. If you see Giannis Antetokounmpo going to the Miami Heat priced at $0.99, that means the crowd believes there is a 99% chance that happens. You buy that contract for $0.99 and if it settles correctly your profit is at one cent per contract.
Boring example, sure. But flip it. If you see a long shot outcome priced at $0.10, meaning the crowd thinks it has a 10% chance of happening, and you believe that is wrong and the real probability is more like 25%, you buy at $0.10 and if it resolves yes, you collect $1. That is a 10x return per contract. Crypto.com Predict runs contracts from less than $1, and Polymarket has over $5.8 million in NBA trading volume with real liquidity behind the markets.
One thing that makes prediction markets different is that you can sell your position before it resolves. If you buy a contract at $0.30 and new information pushes the market to $0.70, you can sell right there and pocket the difference without waiting for the season to end. The market moves every time new information hits: a trade rumor, an injury report, a free agency signing.
This is what surprised us most when we opened all three platforms. NBA prediction markets are not just a playoff-season thing. The off-season is arguably busier, because free agency, the draft, trade rumors, and expansion news all generate markets that run for months. Here is what we found available and how each type works.
A championship futures market lets you trade on who wins the whole thing before the season plays out. On Polymarket, the NBA 2027 Champion market had $2 million in total volume when we visited, with Boston Celtics sitting at 8% and $3 million in liquidity behind the market. These markets open months or even a year before the season and stay live right through the Finals.
If you think OKC is being underpriced at 34%, you can buy that contract now and hold it all season. If your prediction is correct, you collect $1 per contract. If their price climbs as they progress, you can sell early and bank the profit before the Finals even tip off. Every dollar of volume on that market is another trader either agreeing or pushing back on that expectation.
Free agency markets are where NBA knowledge genuinely pays off. We saw an entire section dedicated to exactly this on both Kalshi and Polymarket, and the volume behind some of these questions is stunning. On Polymarket's popular markets list we also found free agency contracts on Anthony Davis, Anfernee Simons, Bradley Beal, Draymond Green, Fred VanVleet, Jonathan Kuminga, Walker Kessler, Rui Hachimura, and Robert Williams III, all priced and tradeable.
New markets were constantly being added as free agency news broke, including Peyton Watson, Norman Powell, Mitchell Robinson, Nikola Vucevic, Luke Kennard, and Kristaps Porzingis. If you follow the beat reporters and think a signing announcement is coming before the market has priced it in, that is your edge.
Draft markets let you trade on outcomes from the annual NBA draft. On Polymarket we found the 2026-27 Rookie of the Year market live with Cameron Boozer priced at 22%, with $22,300 in total volume and $219,000 in liquidity. On Polymarket's new markets section we also spotted NBA Draft: Number of First Round Trades, which is a different angle entirely, letting you trade on the draft process itself rather than just who gets picked where. If you have tracked Boozer or other top prospects and think the market is mispricing the odds, you have months to be right about it.
This category covers everything that does not fit neatly into the others, and some of the most interesting markets we found were here. On Kalshi we found a Stephen Curry ANTA Partnership market, asking whether Curry signs a shoe deal with ANTA, priced at Yes 3% with $37,905 in trading volume. The 2028 Team USA Men's Basketball Roster market had 40 separate sub-markets covering individual players, with Jalen Brunson priced at 74% to make the team and Paolo Banchero at 33%.
The LeBron James retirement market specifically had $980,574 in trading volume on Kalshi, asking whether he announces retirement before the 2026-27 season, priced at Yes 16% and No 84%. That is nearly a million dollars moving on a single retirement question. Whether or not you have strong feelings about any individual outcome, the volume tells you that serious traders are watching every development and pricing it into the market.
Our expert team went into each platform, found the basketball sections, tested the trading interface, and assessed which one delivered the best NBA prediction market experience. Here is the honest breakdown.

Kalshi is one of the most formally regulated options on this list, and for traders who want the security of a CFTC-regulated exchange behind their trades, Kalshi is the go-to. The basketball section is organized into tabs that tell you immediately what kind of markets are available: Draft with 1 active market, Hall of Fame with 2, League Leader with 4, Next Team with 31, Retirement with 7, Season Specials with 6, Trades with 1, and Events with 11. There were 70 live markets when we visited.
The Seattle expansion market, asking whether a Pro Basketball team will play in Seattle before 2030, had $22,366 in volume with Yes priced at 82%. Beyond basketball, Kalshi covers Elections, Politics, Crypto, Commodities, Climate, Economics, and Finance. Kalshi is also consistently ranked among the best soccer prediction market sites for international tournaments and club competition trading.
Polymarket is the world's largest prediction market, and the NBA section backs that up. There are 38 active NBA markets with over $5.8 million in total trading volume sitting behind them. The 2027 NBA Champion market alone has $2 million in total trading volume and $3 million in liquidity.
The free agency coverage on Polymarket is unmatched. We found individual markets on more than 20 specific players during the offseason, all priced in real time based on what reporters are saying and what deals are in the works. Giannis to Miami Heat at 99% had $1 million in volume behind it, while LeBron to the Lakers at 54% had nearly a million. Polymarket is also one of the best NFL prediction market sites for Super Bowl futures and game-by-game contract trading.
When we visited, the NBA regular season was not in session, so the schedule tab showed a single Summer League-style match: Las Vegas at New York at the Barclays Center, with New York priced at 71% and a Buy LV or Buy NY interface ready to go. During the regular season this section populates with every game on the schedule, letting you trade contract-by-contract on game results the same way you would trade Soccer or Baseball on the platform.
The Combo feature lets you build a position combining multiple outcomes into one contract, so you could trade a position like New York advances AND a specific player scores in the same transaction. Crypto.com Predict consistently ranks among the best MLB prediction market sites, so when the NBA offseason hits and the basketball schedule goes quiet, your trading account has an entire pennant race to work with.

We have covered the platforms and the markets in detail. For traders who want to keep going when the basketball calendar hits a lull, all three platforms cover enough ground to qualify among the best Formula 1 prediction market sites too, with race result contracts and championship futures running through the entire Grand Prix season. Now here is exactly how to go from zero to placing your first NBA trade, from account creation to the moment your contract is live.
Head to your platform of choice using our on-page banners
Click any of the on-page banners on this page. You will be taken directly to the registration page of whichever platform you choose. You need to be at least 18 years old and physically located in an eligible region. All three platforms verify your identity and location before you can deposit and trade.
Create your account
Look for the sign up button, which is usually found in the top right corner of the page. Clicking it opens the account creation form where you enter your name, email address, and password, and then verify your identity with a government-issued ID. The process only takes a few minutes. On Polymarket, the blue sign up button sits in the top right and account creation is linked to a crypto wallet.
Fund your account
On Kalshi, you fund via bank transfer, debit card, or wire in US dollars. The process is straightforward and sits under the deposit section of your account once you are verified. On Polymarket you need USDC, so the steps are: create a crypto wallet on MetaMask or similar, buy USDC on an exchange like Coinbase, and transfer it to your Polymarket wallet address.
Navigate to the NBA markets
On Kalshi, click Sports in the top navigation bar. You will see the Basketball section appear. Click into it and you will see the category tabs along the top: Draft, Hall of Fame, League Leader, Next Team, Retirement, Season Specials, Trades, and Events. Click Next Team if you want free agency markets. Click Retirement if you want to trade on player retirement questions. On Crypto.com Predict, select Basketball from the sports filter bar and toggle between Schedule for game-by-game markets and Futures for longer-duration questions.
Place your trade
Find the market you want and tap or click the outcome you believe in. A trade panel opens showing you the price per contract, the number of contracts you are buying, and the potential payout if the market resolves in your favor. Enter the dollar amount you want to put in, review the summary, and confirm your order. Your position is now live. If the market price moves in your favor before it resolves, you can sell early and pocket the difference. If you hold to resolution, contracts pay $1 if correct and $0 if not.
We went hands-on across three of the best NBA prediction market sites available right now and we found year-round NBA prediction markets that never sleep. We are talking championship futures, free agency markets, retirement calls, draft picks, expansion franchise questions, and even whether a specific player signs a shoe deal.
The NBA does not stop when the season ends, and neither do these markets. From the trade deadline to free agency to the draft to training camp, there is always something to trade on. We have been calling NBA outcomes our whole lives. Now there is finally a place to get paid for it. Click our on-page banners, pick your platform, and get into the markets.
Yes. The offseason is actually one of the busiest periods for NBA prediction markets. Free agency, the draft, trade rumors, expansion franchise votes, retirement announcements, and even shoe deal signings all generate active markets. Polymarket had 38 active NBA markets during the offseason with $5.8 million in total trading volume.
Based on what we saw across all three platforms, the highest-volume NBA markets right now are championship futures like NBA 2027 Champion on Polymarket with $2 million in volume, and free agency destination markets like LeBron James Next Team with $996,000 and Giannis Antetokounmpo Next Team with $1 million in volume.
That is where prediction markets get interesting. You are not chained to the final buzzer. If you bought a team at 42¢ and the market jumps to 70¢ after injury news, you can sell early and take the gain. Or you can hold and sweat like a person who enjoys emotional damage.
