With the 2022 year coming to an end, Riot has already started to make their move to make thier 2023 Valorant plans into reality. Riot has already declared the teams which will play the VCT Premier league. Riot also provided clarification for the Ascension league. Today Riot officially announced the alpha testing for the in-game tournament mode, Premier. One of the last blocks of the VCT 2023 pyramid.

The mode will be initially alpha tested in Brazil.  The Premier mode will be available as soon as November 1st and will last until November 27th. The limited launch is to tackle issues that might arise inside the game mode.  It'd help the team focus on the problems pertaining to the game mode instead of scaling and server overloading problems of global launch.

Once the mode is tested, Riot will make necessary changes to launch the mode on a larger scale.

What exactly is the new mode - Premier?

The new mode will be a 5v5 team based match. Players can create a team and participate in an in-game tournament to rise through the ranks and showcase their talent on a higher level.

In Premier, players can create or join a team of five like-minded people.  The roster will battle with another group at a similar skill level. The team will assign a division. The teams will play weekly matches and tournaments within their division.

Teams will amass points by playing division tournaments. The points will help the team qualify for the end-of-the-season Division championship. Each such season will last a few weeks, and you'd be able to rise through the ranks. The mode will also include the new map pick/ban system and team creation.

What does the new mode mean for Valorant and the community?

The mode will be a great way to showcase how a player will function in a structured 5v5 team oriented-manner. Making it easier to scout players, unlike the current methods. It'd also be one way for players to improve and understand what it means to be part of a team and help them understand the competitive Valorant scene better.

Another good thing about the new mode is that with many multiple players playing as a team together, we'd get a lot of innovative & creative plays and agent composition, which we have yet to see.

With Riot already trying to change esports, the inclusion of an in-game mode will help them build a more substantial base and talent in the base form. This will elevate the competitive scene on the pro, semi-pro, and casual levels.

With the alpha testing complete, Riot plans to roll out the mode on a global level after making tweaks to the mode and adjusting according to the community's feedback and eventually develop a path to a career in professional Valorant, A properly structured "Path to Pro."
