Clove, the Scottish troublemaker, is the twenty-fourth agent to join the VALORANT protocol. The latest controller to join the protocol has an unique immortality quip, setting her apart from her peers.

Releasing today, 26th March with Patch 8.05, Clove’s kit enables aggressive plays and will be another agent alongside Omen that allows for fragging.

Let’s look at the agent's ability and how to use them.

VALORANT Agent Clove Abilities

Signature Ability (E) - RUSE:

RUSE is Clove’s smoke. The deploying interface for the ability is similar to Brimstone. The smoke cloud lasts 15 seconds and recharges every 30 seconds. The second smoke costs 150 credits.

Going with the agent’s theme of immortality, Clove can deploy her smokes after her death in a limited area around her body, making her a massive support to the team even if she dies early.

Basic Ability (Q) -  MEDDLE:

MEDDLE is a decay ability for Clove. The ability’s eruption decays 90HP from the targets and lasts for 2.5 seconds before recharging eventually. The ability is single use and costs 250 credits.

The diameter of the ability is much larger than the usual smoke orb and affects the enemies and allies alike. It can be paired with a damaging utility or directly ahead of a duel to gain a health advantage over an opponent. However, LOS is important for the ability's decay to take effect.

Basic Ability (C) - PICK-ME-UP:

PICK-ME-UP is similar to Reyna’s devour, it temporarily overheals and speed boosts (hastes) Clove. It is another single use ability costing 100 credits. It gives Clove a temporary advantage during the round.

Ultimate Ability (X) - NOT DEAD YET:

After dying with seven ult points, Clove can temporarily resurrect herself and make it permanent after either killing or assisting a kill. The second prerequisite for using the Ult is that a teammate has to be alive or the spike is planted.

After death there is a small 2.5 seconds window to activate NOT DEAD YET. Upon activation, you are invulnerable, to reposition. After repositioning you have 10-12 seconds to get a kill or an assist, failing to do so leads to death.

How to play New VALORANT Agent Clove?

Clove is not a replacement or alternative to Omen. Despite both enabling aggressive playstyles, are two different agents with distinct kits.

Clove’s kit essentially revolves around dueling and is especially rewarding for players who aren’t afraid to make risky plays. It won’t be a stretch to call Clove a pseudo-duelist.

The post-mortem smokes ensure the aggressive play from Clove does not hinder the team. MEDDLE can be combined with Raze PAINT SHELLS or Viper’s SNAKE BITE to instantly kill an opponent.

For VALORANT Esports, Clove won’t likely break the meta but will be used on maps where Omen’s mobility does not provide as much value. Clove paired with a Raze would be deadly combination. The USP (unique selling point) for Clove in pro play is her ability to deploy smokes after dying.

Teams that like aggressive plays and have players who can definitely out-aim opponents on the controller role will definitely experiment with the agent.

In Casual play, Clove might just be the best agent launched in recent times. She is the perfect SMURF agent, with Smokes, heal and a self-revive. A lot of players, who can’t instantly lock Reyna or Jett will lock Clove instead.

How to unlock the New VALORANT Agent?

Clove will be available to play starting today, 26th March. Players can either buy the agent using 1000 Valorant Credits or during the agent unlock event.

With the Agent Unlock event, players have to earn a total of 200,000 XP within 28 days to unlock Clove. Post-event completion, the agent can be unlocked using 8000 Kingdom credits.

Additionally, a Xbox Game Pass subscription unlocks the agent with the launch.

Along with Clove, the New Sovereign 2.0 Bundle will drop with Patch 8.05. Read more about the new bundle here.
