Introducing Clove, the newest addition to the VALORANT Protocol. The community has eagerly awaited details about Clove's capabilities, and with the release of an unveiling video from the developers, their curiosity is finally satisfied for now.

Background

Clove is being introduced into the Valorant roster as a controller from Scotland. This means, like their fellow controllers, they will possess a kit, including smokes, which will allow them to slice up map territory to set up their team for success.

It has also been revealed that Clove will be non-binary. This marks another addition of a diverse character that paints the landscape of Valorant agents.

A peek at their Abilities

Valorant enthusiasts clamoring for details about Clove's abilities finally received their wish with a revealing video from the game's developers. This unveiling provides a glimpse into how Clove will impact the battlefield with their unique set of skills.

Smokes - Ruse (E)

Being introduced as a controller, one of Clove's primary abilities resembles Brimstone's Sky Smoke. This allows them to blanket significant areas of the map with smoke clouds.

Even in death, Clove remains a formidable presence, as evidenced by their ability to deploy a smoke cloud from a mini-map interface post-mortem. This tactical advantage allows Clove to support living teammates and potentially influence the outcome of the round.

EQUIP to view the battlefield. FIRE to set the locations where Clove’s clouds will settle. ALT FIRE to confirm, launching clouds that block vision in the chosen areas. Clove can use this ability after death.

Throwable - Meddle (Q)

Clove also possesses a throwable of some kind. In the video, it appears to be of a spherical shape. And the explosion is instantaneous, with quite a large explosion radius. This ability has some sort of a suppressing or disorienting capability. Although the full extent of this ability's effects remains shrouded in mystery.

EQUIP a fragment of immortality essence. FIRE to throw the fragment, which erupts after a short delay and temporarily decays all targets caught inside.

Aura Ability - Pick-Me-Up (C)

The trailer also shows them surrounded by an aura after she gets a kill on an opponent. This bears similarities to what shows up in Reyna’s Express, or Brimstone’s Stim Beacon. However, the extent and purposes of this ability is yet to be revealed.

Self-Revive - Not Dead Yet (X / ULT)

A unique aspect of Clove's arsenal is the ability to self-revive, demonstrated in the video as they transform momentarily into a spectral form before returning to the fray unscathed. This is likely going to be their Ultimate ability.

After dying, ACTIVATE to resurrect. Once resurrected, Clove must earn a kill or a damaging assist within a set time or they will die.

When will VALORANT agent Clove release?

Clove will be released for the masses to play and explore in Valorant Episode 8 Act II on March 26, 2024. This will be in the upcoming Patch 8.05. Before that, though, fans will get a detailed look at their look during the upcoming show match featuring invited content creators.

Is VALORANT Crossplay? PC, PS5, Xbox & Mobile Explained (2026)

VALORANT does not offer crossplay between PC and console. This means that PC players can only match and play against other PC players, and console players (PS5 and Xbox) players can only match and play against other console players. While there is no crossplay in VALORANT, the game does support cross progression, which means that your account, skins, and any other form of progress carry from one platform to the other (from PC to console, and vice versa).
