The Blast Premier Spring Group kickoff today with the opening games of Group A. Faze Clan plays their opening match today at Copenhagen against Complexity. The org tweeted yesterday about Rain and Robban's absence from the event. With the absence, the team will be playing with a substitute.

One of the best teams of 2022, Faze Clan, won their first Major championship in 2022. They were contenders in all the S-tier tournaments and had one of the most successful years in CSGO. Coming into the Blast Premier Spring Groups, they shared the group with Team Liquid, OG and Complexity. They will face complexity in the opening match of the tournament.

Faze Clan announced Rain would be taking time off from the team. Rain expects his first child and will not participate in the Blast Premier Spring Finals. Rain will join the team as soon as possible.

Team's Coach Robban is also going through some personal problems and won't be on the sidelines. Instead, the team's analyst Innersh1ne will accompany the teams in the booths for the Spring finals.

Faze Clan's Substitute Switcheroo:

With Rain absent, the team needed to find a substitute. Originally, the team planned to play with k0nfig. But k0nfig was listed as Heroic’s substitute, and Blast rejected the team's request to play with k0nfig. The only other substitute listed was Olofmeister. Faze Clan did not intimate Olofmiester about his role as the substitute, and he had made prior engagements. So, the team was hastily searching for a substitute and the only possible option was F/A, who could readily fly to Copenhagen.

Yesterday, Twistz, Faze's Rifler, tweeted out Blast's decision to let k0nfig play for the team if the team fails to find another substitute. K0nfig was also seen with the team's members for the Media Day of the team. The whole situation still seemed out of place as the team's official twitter did not announce K0nfig.

Last Night, Blast Premier Twitter, tweeted about the confusion surrounding the Faze Clan Substitute situation. Blast Premier explained what transpired with Faze and k0nfig. Addressing the same, Blast Premier tweet reads,

"After looking into the incident internally, we identified miscommunication and a lack of clarity from Blast on the roster lock timings and k0nfig's eligiblity to play for Spring Groups. This ofcourse is not how we typically operate and we will be looking into strengthening processes and communications with teams, specifically around roster locks"

Adding to this, Blast Premier mentioned they had accepted Faze's request to play with es3tag as the fifth. Suppose Faze faces Ninjas in pyjamas in the tournament, which they might in the Group stage, won't be able to play with es3tag, as es3tag is still contracted with Ninjas in Pyjamas, and it will lead to a Conflict of interest. Following the statement by Blast Premier, Faze Clan tweeted the addition of Es3tag as the stand-in for the event along with coach Eddie Han.

Fortunately, Faze Clan will play with es3tag today when the team takes on Complexity at The Blast Premier Spring groups.

The playing five for the Faze Clan will be:

  • Helvijs "Broky" Saukants
  • Russel "Twistzz" Van Dulken
  • Finn "Karrigan" Anderson
  • Robin "ropz" Kool
  • Patrick "es3tag" Hansen
