Patch 7.32e Misfortunes: The Recalibration Bug

The new patch update 7.32e comes with some mini in-game changes and a new hero - Muerta. But for some players, it also comes with a chance to reset their ranks again. However, in this recalibration season, Valve taught the players a valuable lesson about patience. Players are currently recalibrating ranks much lower than expected in this recalibration season. Players are thinking about a potential bug issue from Valve being the culprit of this issue.

The Hilarious Case

Earlier this month, a retired professional player from China who had 9K MMR before recalibration got 10 MMR (Herald I). The player was returning from 4 month long hiatus. Upon his return, the former pro player decided to recalibrate his rank. Looking at his Dota Buff stats, he won 7 out of 10 recalibration matches, and his rank after recalibration was Herald I. Because of this bizarre issue, the pro player was literally “smurfing” on his main account. As a Reddit user pointed out the particular issues on Reddit,  the former pro player is now back to his rank playing against players of his calibre.

Another one bites the bug

Nuengnara "23savage" Teeramahanon is another professional that has fallen prey to the bug. The Talon Esports hard carry player was breaking MMR records and was the first player to hit the astonishing 13K MMR. He only got 9030 MMR, after playing 12 recalibration matches and winning 9. 23 has maintained his above 11 K MMR very carefully as he was the second player to reach 11K MMR. Even though he anticipated there would be a slight drop in his MMR, the final result is a 4K MMR drop. Currently, 23 is in 197th place on the SEA leaderboards. He stated in his stream that he will retake his place back on the SEA leaderboards along with his fans.
