Team Secret replace Nisha with BOOM

Dota 2

Anyone who’s been following Team Secret’s Dota 2 team over the last several years knows that Michal “Nisha” Jankowski is not the easiest player to replace. He was discovered by Clement “Puppey” Ivanov (Secret’s captain and co-founder) in 2018. And for more than four years, he played exceptionally well for the team.

With Nisha as their position 1 (carry), Secret finished 4th, 3rd, and 2nd at The International. To some extent, these successes can be attributed to Puppey’s strategic genius. But Nisha certainly played his part to perfection.

Nisha’s Qualities and Achievements

In 2020, Nisha won the Esports PC Player of the Year award, which basically means that he was the best player in all of esports. That pretty much sums up his abilities. But Puppey took his great talent to a whole new level.

As a Dota 2 player, Nisha loves carry heroes that have the potential to win the game on their own if they get enough farm. Few can play Terrorblade, Morphling or Arc Warden as well as him. Even his Lone Druid is impeccable most of the time. More recently, Nisha often played mid for Secret, to allow Remco “Crystallis” Arets to play his carry role.

At the age of just 22, Nisha has achieved an enormous amount and will probably join one of the best teams in the world in the coming weeks. Nobody knows for sure where he’ll go next, but it’s hard not to suspect that Team Liquid has made him a spectacular offer.

There’s also the possibility that he might want to take a break to enjoy his youth for a few years. After all, he’s made nearly $2.3 million just from winning Dota 2 tournaments and probably another large sum from his contracts with Secret. But all of this success came at a huge price.

As an esports athlete, you travel a lot and dedicate many hours per week to your training.

Who Is BOOM

Nisha’s replacement player has already been announced. He is a 22-year-old known as Miroslav “BOOM” Bican. Before joining Secret, he used to compete for Vikin.gg, Team Tickles, and Gaimin Gladiators. Given the success of his former clubs while he was playing for them, one could argue that he has already demonstrated great skills.

BOOM’s favorite heroes seem to be Storm Spirit, Ember Spirit, and Invoker. He’s clearly interested in mastering heroes that can give him a real edge and won’t just settle for the ones that only use their basic attacks to get the job done.

BOOM has been playing competitive Dota 2 since 2017, so he has around five years of experience. The only question is: will he be able to work under Puppey’s leadership? Team Secret have had great players before, but when their egos collided with Puppey’s, the team didn’t do very well.

Team Secret’s Future

Team Secret have almost nowhere to go except down. They finished 2nd at The International 11 and unless they can win the Aegis of Champions at TI12, the next season is probably going to be a bit disappointing relative to what happened in the previous four.
