SA DPC has once again made the headlines in the Dota 2 community, but this time the news could even go into the whole esports community. English-speaking South American Dota 2 Talent in charge of SA DPC are on strike. The strike was announced on Thursday. It aims to end poor working conditions in South America and to show the talent’s dissatisfaction with the insufficient compensation for their services.

The Strike

Muriëlle “Kips” Huisman, former analyst and one of the hosts of DPC SA Division I DPC, took to Twitter on 18th May to announce that BTS BR has abused the privilege of hosting the SA DPC. In her tweet, she mentioned a single talent working in EEU Division I Bo3 receives five times more than the talents from SA despite the fact SA rates were doubled after the Winter Tour.

According to her, this is the reason why most SA DPC professionals took a break this season. They went on strike to negotiate with BTS BR, but BTS BR declined the negotiation and added new talents resulting in the quality of the production.

She also stated, to her knowledge, neither ESB nor BTS BR attempted to secure more sponsorship deals to bring the production value up. Instead, for the whole season, they tried to get community casters for free casting. This eventually leads to poor quality results for Tour 2.

The Consequences

The lack of experienced staff and talent for SA DPC is taking a heavy toll on its production quality. Moreover, viewers of SA are getting various rampant NSFW ( Not safe for work) spam messages.

Sadly, this is not the first time SA has had issues regarding its pay. Before the 2022-2023 DPC Season, multiple players from the SA region called out 4D Esports for their prize payment. At the time, the issue was resolved smoothly. 4D Esports paid players their dues and apologised for their late payment.

SA Dota 2 professional scene has been on the rise lately. The region had broken multiple records reaching historical heights.
