The first week of the DPC Summer Tour action has begun in the South American region. For the second day, one of the region’s most anticipated matches, Thunder Awaken Vs Evil Geniuses, was on the menu.  As both teams have similar understandings of the game, it was expected to be close series, but the reality was different. Evil Geniuses proved their dominance and superiority in the region by clean-sweeping Thunder Awaken with a swift 2-0 victory. Here’s a quick recap of the action that happened.

Game 1

Drafting Techies for the soft support, Ember Spirit for the midlane back by an Oracle hard support, Thunder Awaken’s draft in game 1 allowed them to play early from the get-go. Thunder Awaken capitalised on its draft advantage and started to build a net worth lead, snowballing that lead into the midgame. However, at 22 minutes, a surprise Roshan contest by Evil Geniuses gave them a small window to crawl back into the game. Although EG was ahead, they couldn’t get a solid grasp on the game, as Thunder Awaken’s hard carry Terrorblade was too much for them to deal with. At 48 minutes, a failed high-ground attempt by Thunder Awaken allowed EG to close out game 1; EG took that opportunity willingly and at 49 minutes, EG closed out game 1.

Game 2

EG took Terrorblade as their safelane hard carry for game 2. On the other hand, Thunder Awaken opted for a greedy route picking the tri-core of Alchemist mid, Chaos Knight offlane and Naga Siren safe lane hard carry. EG punished Thunder Awaken’s greediness by playing a fast-paced game drafting Snapfire mid and an offlane Beastmaster. Thunder Awakens crumbles quickly, having no answers to the tempo of Evil Geniuses. Eventually, at 24 minutes, Thunder Awakens tapped out of game 2, giving the series to EG.

Due to the victory, EG is currently leading the groups in the South American region with two wins and zero losses, while Thunder Awaken is in fifth place with one win and one loss.
