ESL Pro League Season 17 was a great tournament for FaZe Clan, who managed to win the title and climb all the way up to number 2 in the global rankings.

The team’s success would not have been possible without the contribution of the last player who joined, Robin “ropz” Kool. At the age of just 23, he is easily one of the best competitors in CS:GO.

Ropz’s contribution to FaZe Clan’s success

Ropz joined FaZe at the start of January 2022. Up until that point, the team had struggled to win trophies. The roster was amazing but something was missing. As soon as Olof “olofmeister” Kajbjer was replaced with ropz, the team’s placements in S-tier tournaments skyrocketed.

FaZe ended up having a phenomenal year with four S-tier trophies including the PGL Major. At ESL Pro League S17, the cycle was completed. FaZe won another big trophy and received $1 million for winning the 4th season of Intel Grand Slam.

Ropz was not only the best player on FaZe. He was named the MVP of the entire tournament for his performance. His displays of skill were phenomenal. He had rockstar performances against Ninjas in Pyjamas, FURIA Esports, forZe, Natus Vincere, and Cloud9.

He didn’t always deliver on every map, but he did play well on most of them and his stats made a huge difference. For example, without his 33 kills, FaZe wouldn’t have won on Inferno against forZe. And that was not the only match that required godlike performances from ropz.

In some cases, despite his best efforts, FaZe lost the match. But when it really mattered, ropz proved to be the decisive factor in his team’s successful transition from one stage of the tournament to the next.

One match in which ropz really stood out and was the best player on the server was the Grand Final against Cloud9, won by FaZe with a  score of 3-1. Ropz had a rating 2.0 of 1.28 and a K-D score of 83-62.
