OG had not a good season for the Summer Tour. They lost their debut match against the reigning champions, Tundra Esports, and lost the series that followed. On top of that, one of their support players also took a short break. OG was in danger of getting relegated along with Team Secret.

However, unlike Team Secret and in traditional OG fashion, the team won their last crucial matches and kept themselves shy away from getting relegated. They dominated their final DPC match against D1 Hustlers and took the series with a clean sweep. Here’s a quick recap of what happened.

Game 1

OG went with a greedy lineup in game 1. Drafting Medusa as their safelane carry, Templer Assasin as their midlane and an offlane Batrider. To counter the Medusa draft, D1 Hustlers picked Naga Siren as their hard carry and Anti Mage as their offlane, backed by a midlane Void Spirit.

Despite having a more mobile draft, D1 Hustlers couldn’t do much as they got owned during the laning stage. BZM, on his midlane Templer Assasin, dominated Void Spirit. The support from OG also responded quickly to ganks attempts from D1 Hustlers.

After the laning stage ended, OG started to play behind their midlaner, TA, while their safelane Medusa soaks up the farm safely on the other side of the map. Despite having a greedier line-up, OG started to yield results as they took one objective after another. As OG’s safelane Medusa showed up to team fights against the hero’s counters, D1 Hustlers’ grip on the game vanished. At 33 minutes, OG closed out game 1.

Game 2

OG drafted a hard carry Medusa draft again in Game 2, but unlike Game 1, they went for a tempo-control Void Spirit for the midlaner, backed by an Orge Magi offlane. The support duo of Shadow Demon and Skywrath Mage frequently rotated midlane to enable their Void Spirit mid. Orge Magi, OG’s offlaner, completely stomped his lane against the Faceless Void, the safelane carry from Entity.

They snowballed their laning stage advantage into the midgame, pressuring Entity to defend the objectives. However, with them getting pressured and being far behind in the match, Entity couldn’t. Eventually, Entity tapped out at 35 minutes, giving the series to OG.

The Consequences

Due to the results of the match, OG, with a score of three wins and four losses, will get to maintain their spot in Division I. However, D1 Hustlers, on the hand, are locked in the tiebreakers series against Entity.
