Fnatic has secured the services of Swedish AWPer Tim "nawwk" Jonasson on loan from BLEED Esports, just in time for their Major campaign. This news comes just a few months after BLEED Esports signed the Swede, along with Joakim "jkaem" Myrbostad.

Despite competing in the RMR's closed qualifier with BLEED, nawwk has been cleared to represent Fnatic at the Major. This move comes as Fnatic looks to reinvigorate its lineup after a tough stretch of performances.

Replacing afro After a Year with Fnatic

Jonasson will take over for Aurélien "afro" Drapier, whom Fnatic benched after a year with the team. The team has struggled to find form in recent months. Managing to slide out of the world’s top 20 rankings in November 2023. Most recently, they were eliminated in the ESL Pro League Season 20 group stage. Thus leaving them 31st in the world rankings. With afro on the bench, Fnatic is banking on nawwk's experience to bring a fresh dynamic to the team.

For nawwk, this loan represents a second shot at reaching the Major after being eliminated with BLEED in the RMR closed qualifiers. His strong performance with Fnatic could potentially earn him a permanent spot, as the organization has an option to buy his contract. However, neither Fnatic nor BLEED has disclosed the loan’s expiration.

Read more about this move in Fnatic's official statement.

Fans won’t have to wait long to see nawwk in action with his new team. Fnatic will face Into the Breach on Tuesday in the YaLLa Compass Summer 2024 playoffs, where nawwk will debut in the iconic black and orange jersey. His presence on the roster brings hope of a much-needed turnaround for the organization.
