India-based esports organisation Global Esports took on Korea's T1 in their VCT Pacific opening match. After a close-fought game, Global Esports, unfortunately, could not secure the series and lost their opening game. Post-match, Strafe interviewed GES IGL Ayrin, talking about the team's formation, roles, and current place in VCT Pacific.

Q. Comfort is a big part of a player's performance. Does not having players with a lot of experience playing the agent hinder Global Esports' performance?

GES Ayrin: "For sure, 100%, When you start to build a team and players play a new agent, you see a drop in the performance. But that's the whole reason for practice. When we were looking to build this roster, it's not just about the performance. It's about the mentality, how much they want to win, do they have the spirit and desire to improve. I think it (qualities above) is much more long-term and much more productive while looking to build a team. Obviously you'd wanna pick up the best controller or the best initiator instantly. But at the same time, APAC hasn't been developed due to the fact that there were options to pick. The best controller to pick, so we came in with a unique approach. And it's going well."

Q. With seven players on the roster, Will we see a rotating roster from Global Esports

GES Ayrin: "Yeah, so, We faced the VISA issues in Brazil, We are facing VISA issues now, But that(rotating roster) is definitely a possibility. That's up to the coaches to decide, there could be a rotating roster, or there could be not. But it all depends on when we have all the players here in Korea and then decide what we want to do for the rest of the season."

Q. Is Global Esports' diversity an advantage for the team?

GES Ayrin: " I think both series we played so far, The vitality one was a bit closer, and This map was close too. Yeah, there is definitely an advantage, and it provides a unique playstyle. And there are always new things to try. I think the most important thing for us is to have time to try everything we want. The schedules are so tight, so we have to adapt to that. We don't really have a lot of time to do all the things we want to try. We just have to work really hard for the next month and a half of the regular season to bring out our Unique playstyle."

Q. How are Pacific and NA different regarding culture, scrimmage, and play style?

GES Ayrin: "In terms of scrimming Asia is quite similar to NA in many ways. One thing I would say is different, and I don't understand why it's a thing if we start at 5 everyone should be ready at 5. In terms of playstyle, I do think NA has a lot of creativity, what I mean by that is NA tries to set the meta, they experiment a lot. While a lot of the Asian region, in APAC they follow the meta. As you see this week and the upcoming week they are following the LOUD meta. And it's not a problem. But when you scrim the same comp again and again and again it can get a bit tedious."

Q. Do you plan to bring more NA in Global Esports, or do you wish to create something unique with the team?

GES Ayrin: "We definitely have a plan to really unite all the brains including our European coaches and Korean coaches. But, one thing I will say is that we really want to work on our fundamentals, and make sure we have the basic blocks to really push forward and it is taking some time. But I think we are slowly getting there. We are getting closer and closer. And we are aiming, in the next couple of matches, to springboard and bring new ideas, to throw people off-guard."

Q. Where do you rank yourself (Global Esports) right now?

GES Ayrin: "I think there is a really good competition in the pacific. If I have to rank us, I'd say We are definitely in the top 5, anywhere between 3rd, 4th and 5th."

Global Esports was under a lot of fire after getting four Jett players on the roster, but it seems their experiment is working. Despite the losses, GES has displayed brilliance and given time. They'd come out stronger. In the next week of VCT Pacific, GES will face DRX and have to bring out their best game to come closer to defeating the competition. It is to be noted that DRX's MaKo called Global Esports a challenger at the Face-off Event.'
