In a much-anticipated move, Shawn "FMPONE" Snelling, one of the creators of the renowned Counter-Strike map Cache, has finally given the community a glimpse of the long-awaited remake.

Chernobyl-inspired Design: A First Look

After announcing plans to overhaul Cache for Counter-Strike 2 nearly a year ago, FMPONE has remained true to his word, promising a complete reconstruction of the map. Inspired by the haunting landscapes of Chernobyl, the new Cache promises a fresh and immersive experience for players.

Excitement rippled through the community as FMPONE shared initial screenshots of the revamped Middle section, signaling significant progress in the map's development. With meticulous attention to detail, the updated design breathes new life into one of Counter-Strike's most beloved battlegrounds.

Cache's Legacy: From Major Debut to Revitalization

Originally introduced to the competitive scene in the ESL One Cologne 2014 cycle, Cache quickly became a staple in professional tournaments for five years. However, its tenure in the Active Duty map pool came to an end in 2019, when it was replaced by Vertigo ahead of StarLadder Major Berlin.

Despite its absence from official competitive play, Cache continued to hold a special place in the hearts of players worldwide. In late 2019, FMPONE and the map's original creator, Salvatore "Volcano" Garozzo, released a remastered version for casual game modes, keeping the spirit of Cache alive within the community.

A New Chapter for Cache

The unveiling of the revamped Cache has sparked a wave of enthusiasm among professional players and community members alike. Many have voiced their support for replacing existing Active Duty maps with the Chernobyl-inspired level. Thus showing eagerness in embracing the nostalgia and innovation it promises to bring to competitive play.

As FMPONE unveils the first glimpse of the revamped Cache, anticipation mounts for what lies ahead. With its rich history and a fresh design inspired by Chernobyl, the upcoming iteration promises to captivate both seasoned veterans and newcomers to the Counter-Strike universe.
