Blast Premier Spring Showdown 2023 Day 3 Recap

Blast Premier Spring Showdown 2023 kicked off on March 29th, as 8 teams from EU and the Americas each went head-to-head to qualify for the Blast Spring Finals.

8 teams from each region took part in an online feud in a last chance qualifier to take a single spot in the Blast Spring Finals. EU and Americas Showdowns were held separately.

EU Showdown:

Game 1: NIP vs Cloud9

First game of the day was the EU Semifinals. We saw Ninjas in Pyjamas take on Cloud9 in a 3 Map saga. First Map was Ancient, picked by NIP. but it was Cloud9 who were the more dominant side. They bested NIP at all turns, winning the map 16-8. The tables had turned in Cloud9’s pick of Overpass, where NIP had a much better start on their CT-side. New signing buster tried to best to keep his team afloat, even managing to get a highlight worthy 1v2 clutch. However, NIP capitalized on this lead and managed to win the map 16-10. Vertigo was the decider, where Cloud9 showed an absolute masterclass on their T-side. They did not drop a single round in the second half, winning 8 rounds in a row, and won the map 16-7.

Cloud9 advance to the Grand Finals, where they will face the winner of BIG vs 9INE.

Americas Showdown:

Game 2: Complexity vs Imperial Esports

Second game of the day took us to the Americas where Complexity took on Imperial. Imperial picked Inferno for Map 1. But it was Complexity who came out on top. Both teams had quite a fierce back and forth, but in the end Complexity won the map 16-12. Imperial returned the favor  on Complexity’s map pick of Ancient. Flaunting a much better T-side, Imperial only allowed Complexity to win 3 CT-rounds, and took the win at 16-10. Complexity’s moral was sapped going into Overpass. Imperial had a 10 round win streak on their T-side. Complexity did manage to pull back a few rounds, but it was of no avail. Imperial won the map 16-11. Although chelo dropped a monstrous 66 kills overall, it was JOTA to top the table with 61 kills, 15 of those from the AWP, and a 1.38 rating.

Game 3: Furia vs Evil Geniuses Black

In the final game of the day, Evil Geniuses decided to pull off a roster change against Furia. This gamble seemed to pay off as they won the series 2-1. On their pick of Vertigo, Evil Geniuses Black took an early lead at 9-4. But Furia had a much better T-side, and made the comeback and won the map 16-11. Map 2 was Mirage where Evil Geniuses Black had a very dominant CT-side. They started the map off with a 1v2 clutch from Hext. Furia also had a good start in the second half on their CT-side, but EG took the win 16-8. Furia had a very strong start in the decider Inferno, as they managed to take the lead in the first half at 9-6. They extended this lead to 13-6 in the second half. But EG pulled off a miraculous comeback, winning 10 rounds in a row, winning the map 16-13. Junior was leading the table with a colossal 72 kills, including an amazing AWP ACE, and a 1.50 rating overall.

Evil Geniuses Black will face Imperial Esports in the Semifinals of the Americas Showdown.
