After BLAST investigation ruled against Mathieu "Maniac" Quiquerez, the French Counter-Strike personality responded to the allegations, this time pleading guilty.

Let me rephrase that, he pleaded that his behavior is a result of a problematic relationship with alcohol and a rough childhood. Hey, but at least he accepted he was at fault - partly - and regrets his actions and vows to address his weakness.

Maniac pleads Guilty

To the uninitiated, in the past few days, multiple female colleagues and peers of Maniac have come forward accusing him of sexual assault and witnesses endorsing the victim’s accounts.

Initially, he did deny all the accusations in an earlier response. But after Dust.us published their report and BLAST confirmed the accusations, dropping Maniac from BLAST Premier broadcasting, he accepted responsibility for his action and apologized in a tweet made earlier today.

In the statement, Maniac confessed to the accusations, regretting his actions. He also did express how the behavior is a result of a troubled childhood and his reliance on alcohol and wishes to fix it in near future.

Unfortunately a troubled past and/or substance abuse does not excuse a behavior which causes suffering to another person. The situation is especially appalling as a lot of these incidents occurred at parties.

Additionally, some accounts date back to 2022 and if Hannah Marie hadn’t made a public statement, there is no guarantee Maniac would reflect on his actions. It might just be the community and professional backlash that made him 'realize' his shortcomings and not the severity of his actions.

Also, there is no guarantee if any of these incidents had ever seen the light of the day. Such incidents only further emphasize a need for more gender equality measures, as the traumatic experience of a specific gender was being swept under the rug by the whole system.
