The Group Stages at The Berlin Major have concluded. Some teams made it to the playoffs, and some sadly achieved disappointing results; Thus, they got eliminated at the end of the group stages.

While all the teams from Western Europe got themselves an upper bracket slot, the majority of teams from SEA were eliminated. Talon Esports, a SEA team that secured a third-place finish at The Lima Major, was only able to get a lower-bracket spot for the playoffs.

The Eliminated

Team SMG has improved tremendously in their Spring Tour run, but it wasn’t enough. Despite showing a lot of promise in these past years, two out of three teams from the South American region got eliminated as well.

Beastcoast may have topped the group stages in Spring Tour, but they only secured 7th place in Group B. Evil Geniuses placed 6th in Group A with a score of two wins, four draws and two losses. However, only EG was able to make it past the group stages. They had to play the exhausting three-way tiebreaker series against Team Aster and BetBoom Team for their lower bracket slot. EG lost against Team Aster, but they prevailed over BetBoom Team. Thus, EG will enter the playoffs from the lower bracket. Likewise BeastCoast, TSM placed the top seed in their region for the DPC Spring Tour. However, The Berlin Major run was rather disappointing for them. They were the first team to get eliminated after their series against Team Aster. The team didn’t win a single series in their group stages and placed at the bottom of Group A.

Questionable Treatment

Recently, a player revealed the tournament organisers, ESL’s practice of sending the eliminated teams home immediately. He criticises this action as it causes them to lose their hotel rooms and charges him to rebook his flight.  Surprisingly, there are some tournament organisers who are worse than PGL. However, as of now, PGL has not issued a statement on this criticism. The group stages have provided fans with some thrilling Dota 2 action in the past weeks and with the playoffs starting today, the exciting action will continue until May 7th.
