About this event

EPL Masters

Overview

EPL Masters is a Dota 2 tournament series organized by European Pro League (EPL), a Poland-based esports production company (headquartered in Wrocław; founded 2022 in Kyiv, Ukraine). Launched in 2026 as a higher-stakes complement to EPL’s long-running European Pro League seasons (typically $10,000–$20,000 prize pools), each Masters edition features a $100,000 USD prize pool and targets Europe and CIS teams. It is classified as a Tier 3 event on Liquipedia. The series provides regular mid-tier competitive opportunities, prize money, and practice for regional squads (including academies and rising organizations) in the post-Dota Pro Circuit landscape, bridging smaller leagues and major international events. Four editions were planned for 2026 with a combined $400,000 USD in prizes. Official website: https://eplesports.com/. Social: X/Twitter @epl_esports.

History

European Pro League began running frequent online Dota 2 events in Europe/CIS in 2022 (starting with smaller prize pools) and expanded into Counter-Strike and League of Legends, plus regional EPL World Series events. After establishing a consistent Tier 3 presence, EPL introduced the Masters series in mid-2026 to elevate stakes with six-figure prize pools while retaining an accessible multi-stage format open to invited and qualifying teams.

EPL Masters I ran July 26–August 12, 2026 (with earlier play-in activity). Masters II followed August 30–September 10, 2026. Masters III (the current edition) began with a Play-In on October 12–17, 2026, and the main event October 18–November 5, 2026. A fourth edition (Masters IV) is scheduled for December 2026 (approximately December 8–28). Format has remained consistent: Play-In round-robin groups feeding a main-event round-robin group stage (plus direct invites), followed by double-elimination playoffs. All editions have been fully online on Europe West servers.

Format

EPL Masters III (Season 3 2026) is a fully online event on Europe West servers for Europe/CIS teams, featuring a $100,000 USD prize pool and a 16-team main event field.

A Play-In stage (October 12–17, 2026) used two round-robin groups (primarily 6 teams each; Bo3 matches). Points: 3 for a 2–0 win, 2 for a 2–1 win (1 to the loser). The top teams advanced to the main tournament (specifically, top finishers including Team Lynx, Yellow Submarine, CyberHero, Nemiga Gaming, IC x Insanity, Dawn Bulls, Zero Tenacity, and salamit qualified).

The main event includes a round-robin group stage (two groups of six teams, Bo3; same points system) running from approximately October 18, with the top four from each group advancing. Four teams received direct invites to the group stage (HULIGANI, Team Synapse, Team Cobra, Power Rangers). An additional four invited teams are directly seeded into the playoffs.

Playoffs (November 2–5, 2026) use a double-elimination bracket. All series are Bo3, including the Grand Final. Prize distribution: 1st $50,000, 2nd $25,000, 3rd $13,000, 4th $7,000, 5th–6th $2,500 each (lower placements typically unpaid or minimal).

Notable Editions

EPL Masters I (July–August 2026) marked the series debut with a strong field including Natus Vincere (NAVI) and MOUZ. It concluded just before The International 2026, offering late-season practice and a significant payday. NAVI dominated the playoffs.

EPL Masters II (August–September 2026) saw NAVI defend their title against a competitive field featuring GamerLegion, MOUZ, and Klim Sani4. It reinforced the series as a reliable high-prize regional fixture.

EPL Masters III (ongoing as of October 2026) continues the pattern with Play-In success for teams such as Team Lynx and Yellow Submarine, alongside group-stage invites for HULIGANI, Team Synapse, Team Cobra, and Power Rangers. It maintains the series’ role in sustaining Europe/CIS competition between larger events.

Viewership & Impact

Broadcasts primarily air on Kick (channels including kick.com/epldota_en1 and kick.com/epldota_en2), with talent such as joexdtry, WaXeNVlad, basedefender, DrTultras, and others. English streams shifted from Twitch/YouTube to Kick; Russian/other language coverage and Dota TV also feature. Organizer channel stats (Kick EU main) have shown averages around 444 viewers, peaks near 3,341, and significant unique monthly reach (over 1.1 million unique users claimed across platforms). Specific peak/average concurrent figures for individual Masters editions are not widely published but align with solid Tier 3 regional viewership (comparable EPL events have peaked in the low thousands).

EPL Masters has cultural significance as a stable, high-prize online circuit for Europe/CIS Dota 2 after the DPC era. It supports roster development, academy teams, and mid-tier organizations with consistent practice and earnings (series total prize money projected at $400,000 across four 2026 editions). It complements EPL’s lower-prize seasons and regional World Series events, helping sustain the ecosystem between majors and The International. Cumulative EPL prize awards exceed $1 million historically.
