As the remaining eight teams at The International 2024 duke it out for a chance to have their names forever immortalized on the Aegis of Champions this year, some have to bid farewell to making their dream a reality. Unfortunately, BetBoom Team is one of them.

Though the team made it to the top eight, they were knocked out of the tournament by Team Falcons. BetBoom Team had no success going up against one of the most dominant teams of the season thus far. Even though they showed moments of brilliance, Falcons quickly extinguished their sparks and secured a clean victory.

A Summary of What Happened

The deciding game between Team Falcons and BetBoom Team was intense. Things were looking grim for BetBoom Team, as Team Falcons had a fantastic laning stage and snowballed their advantage. However, BetBoom Team did not go down quietly. After an impressive high-ground defence, BB Team's safelane Medusa purchased a Divine Rapier, and the game was on.

While BetBoom Team took some advantageous skirmishes, Team Falcons’ offlaner, Ammar "ATF" Al-Assaf, had his Aghanim's Scepter on Centaur Warrunner ready to save his allies who got caught. The game went the distance, but at the 50-minute mark, BetBoom Team made a misplay.

While pushing high ground, their safelaner Medusa, with the Aegis intact, placed her BKB in her backpack. Though her team tried to bail her out swiftly, Team Falcons were quicker in taking her down—twice. Consequently, this resulted in BetBoom's advantage disappearing in an instant. Though Medusa purchased another Rapier, the advantage they once had was long gone, and Team Falcons closed out the game with only 30 seconds away from the hour mark.

Cr1t on Malr1ne's TI debut: "He's just like an energy bomb"

After the intense series, Team Falcons' support player, Andreas "Cr1t-" Nielsen, took the post-game interview. He reflected on how his team kept calm during the series and shared his experience of playing in front of the home crowd.

"I didn't really know how I was going to react playing here. Just being at my apartment and then going straight to TI, it's crazy. We're very composed team, we have experienced players– they're very good at it. The booths are also sound proof, so that helps."

The International 2024 features some players making their TI debut. Among them is Stanislav "Malr1ne" Potorak, the midlaner of Team Falcons. Cr1t, a TI veteran, also shared what it’s like to play alongside someone making their debut.

" I think Stanis is just a person it's kinda up to him. We all obviously tried to help him as much as we can, but he's just like an energy bomb. It's kinda up to him on the day to just be there. Today, he decided to show up and be the best player in the world."

Saika: "We couldn't really make moves first"

Earlier this week, at the Road to The International 2024, Team Spirit, the defending champions, were eliminated. As a result, BetBoom Team became the last hope for the Eastern European region. Now, with their exit, the hopes of an Eastern European team lifting this year's Aegis have vanished along with them.

In their exit interview, BetBoom Team's safelaner, Egor "Saika" Grigorenko, reflected on the elimination series and hinted at potential changes on his team in the upcoming Dota 2 professional season.

" I guess we're just forced. First game, we had the free three lanes and we couldn't really make moves first. Second game, we just got crushed, stronger lanes from bot and mid and game was hard from that point. I guess you can call it unlucky, but if you wanna win tournaments or get to super far, you have to beat everyone so that's just life. We're just gonna tryna get better– maybe some changes not sure."

With their victory, Team Falcons advances to the top six of The International 2024. Be sure to visit Strafe for the latest coverage of all the action at The International 2024.
