Almost a year after being moved to Team Spirit's inactive roster, Yaroslav "Miposhka" Naidenov returns as a coach to help his former teammates on their journey to the Esports World Cup and The International 2026.

Let's recap Team Spirit's performance since Miposhka left and discuss what their possible path to the biggest competitions in professional Dota 2 could look like.

When the two-timer speaks, you stay silent and listen.

Miposhka Leaves: Team Spirit Just Can't Win

Miposhka left Team Spirit's active roster on October 9, 2025, and Nikita "panto" Balaganin joined with the responsibility of replacing one of the select few players to have won The International twice as a hard support.

Spirit's first tournament without Miposhka started with a perfect Group Stage run at FISSURE PLAYGROUND 2. However, they were eliminated after losses to BetBoom Team in the Upper Bracket Semifinals and Team Falcons in the Lower Bracket Quarterfinals.

These results placed Team Spirit in 5th place at FISSURE PLAYGROUND and, from that point onward, they would not win a tournament despite reaching several Grand Finals.

Shortly after, Spirit reached three consecutive Grand Finals and lost all of them: 3–2 against MOUZ at PGL Wallachia Season 8, 3–1 to Team Yandex at DreamLeague Season 27, and 3–2 against Aurora Gaming at FISSURE Universe Episode 8.

Sometimes we forget how important a leader can be to a team that's always on the top.

Following these consecutive Grand Final losses, Team Spirit's best result was a third-place finish at DreamLeague Season 28 after removing panto from the roster, adding Alexey "not me" Kosmynin as a soft support, and moving Aleksandr "rue" Filin to the hard support role.

Can Miposhka Lead From the Sidelines?

After months of uncertainty, Miposhka's return was announced on Team Spirit's official Twitter profile (@TSpirit_Dota2). Instead of returning to his former position, he will assist his former teammates as a coach.

This comes at a delicate moment considering Team Spirit did not receive a direct invite to The International 2026 and could miss the tournament if they fail to secure a slot through the Europe Regional Qualifiers, which begin on June 21.

Now comes the question that remains unanswered: will Miposhka be able to guide Team Spirit to The International as a coach?

A leader is still a leader whether inside or outside the game, but some problems cannot always be solved without stepping onto the server personally.

There are successful examples of pro players becoming great coaches, such as Kurtis "Aui_2000" Ling and, more recently, Clement "Puppey" Ivanov leading PARIVISION to victory at DreamLeague Season 29. But can Miposhka be just as impactful as a coach as he was as a player?

Closing Thoughts

Team Spirit is at a crucial moment for its Dota 2 roster, and bringing Miposhka back could be the final move that determines whether they qualify for The International 2026 or miss the opportunity to become the first organization to win the tournament three times.
