The day 2 of VCT Game Changers Championship kicked off with the tournament favorites Shopify Rebellion taking on the International debutante Chao Hui EDward Gaming.

Chao Hui EDward Gaming was playing without their breakout star and duelist lizhi. While Blue has previously subbed for lizhi on multiple occasions, but the international LAN stage is a different matter altogether.

Shopify Rebellion dominate EDG

Starting on Haven, Chao Hui EDG had a really tough time cracking the Shopify defense. On the five rounds EDG did plant, SR successfully retook four times to finish the first half with a 11-1 score and closed the first map 13-1.

Sunset was no different. Nicole Noia Tierce’s Cypher shone against the nervous EDG as they only secured two rounds before losing the game 13-2.

Talking about her debut series Shopify Rebellion debutante  Ava “florescent” Eugene said:

“It was nice, but I was a little nervous.I got used to it (the stage) after the first half”

Florescent finished the series with a 35/10/6 KDA and was a standout performer for her team.

Talking about the handling the pressure and nervousness of the squad, Shopify Rebellion Alexis “alexis” Guarassi said:

“Honestly, me and meL, our main goal is to keep everyone super zen and make sure they are not super nervous. We have the experience playing on the stage, so we are trying to keep everyone chill and make sure they are not freaking out”

The other end of the game saw Chao Hui EDward Gaming’s young debutante squad struggling to find their groove.

Talking about the game, Chao Hui EDward Gaming’s Coach Deng "shuaishuai" Chuanyi said:

“For all the players, this is their first time playing on stage in front of the crowd. It being our first time definitely disrupted our momentum and it led to us not playing as well. We’d definitely come back tomorrow, adjust to the stage and play our natural game and replicate what we do in the scrims.”

Despite the tough loss, the players were in a positive mood and will come back stronger in their next series. They will play against the loser of the BBL - KRU game.

Melanji “meL” Capone and alexis along with Shopify Rebellion have secured a great start to the tournament and will try to convert this into a strong victory. They will face the winners of the BBL - KRU game.
