Starting November 28 2023, The Arena CBLOL, São Paulo, Brazil will host the VCT Game Changers Championship 2023. The second annual Game Changers Championship will once again feature eight teams around the world. These eight teams will battle it out in a week-long affair to crown the second VCT Game Changers Champion.

The teams qualified for the VCT Game Championship until 16th November, 2023 are as follows:

EMEA Stage 3 winner - BBL Queens:

BBL Queens had an amazing tournament at the VCT EMEA GC stage 3. They dominated the group stage defeating the likes of G2 Gozen, the defending GC champions.

They continued their domination in the playoffs and completed their run without dropping a series. During this insane run, BBL Queens dropped just four maps before winning the tournament.

The VCT Game Changers Championship 2023 will be BBL Queens’ international debut. It’d be interesting to see how they perform on the international stage.

EMEA Circuit Points - G2 Gozen:

The defending Champions dominated the EMEA GC throughout the year. With Mary retiring, Juliano returning to Counter-Strike, the team definitely struggled and did not look as strong during the VCT EMEA GC stage 3.

They are still considered the strongest in EMEA as they dominated the whole year and only fumbled the GC EMEA Stage 3.

The reigning Champions are known to return to form at the biggest stages and will likely be one of the biggest threats to any debutant team.

NA Series III winner - Evil Geniuses Black:

The main EG team made an amazing run to win the Valorant Champions 2023 and it’d be fitting if EG Black followed it up with a GC Championship.

EG Black has already made one amazing run to win the GC NA Series III, defeating Shopify Rebellion and Version1.

After losing to Shopify Rebellion in the first round of the playoffs, EG Black made an insane lower bracket run defeating Disguised GC, Shopify and Version1 to secure the GC Championship spot.

They also became the first team to defeat Version1 in 2023. The platform for their international run is definitely set, EG Black will try to imitate EG’s Valorant Champions run and secure another major Valorant trophy for Evil Geniuses.

Unfortunately, for EG Black, they don’t have the complete squad yet since Keenc was expelled from the team following their inappropriate behavior.

NA Circuit points - Shopify Rebellion (Prev. Version1):

Version1 completely switched to a GC team in 2023. The team featured the previous C9 White member Melanie "meL" Capone and Alexis "alexis" Guarassi. The team was formed not only to win the GC World Championship but to compete in the main VCT circuit.

They dominated the whole year and only dropped a total of three maps the entire year. Their only loss came to EG Black in the Grand Finals of VCT GC series 3. Coming into the VCT GC Championship 2023, Version1 will be the title contenders.

The team does have three debutants but with meL's guidance, it won't be a surprise if Version1 win it all.

Update: The Version1 squad will play the VCT GC championship under the Shopify Rebellion GC banner. Read more about it here.

BR Circuit points - Team Liquid Brazil:

Natália “daiki” Vilela and co. return to the international stage once again. Last year, Team Liquid placed third in the competition and made a statement establishing BR and themselves as a strong region.

The team brought in three new faces to assist Paula “Bstrdd” Nuguil and daiki at the start of 2023. These new faces carried the team’s legacy and helped the team continue their domination in 2023. They won both the BR GC tournaments, asserting their domination. It’d be interesting to see if Team Liquid Brazil can finish what they started in 2022 and win it all.

LATAM Regional Finals - KRU Blaze:

KRU Fem return to the international stage as KRU Blaze. With two new additions, KRU Blaze dominated the VCT GC LAS qualifiers and followed it up with a LATAM regional finals title.

With International experience under their belt, it’d be interesting to see how KRU Blaze plays on the stage with two debutants.

APAC Elite - Team SMG:

Team SMG completely dominated APAC in 2023. The team switched to GC Division in 2022 and revamped the roster at the start of 2023.

The big moves helped the team rise to the top. They won the VCT GC APAC Open 1, 2 and 3 and were the top team at the VCT GC APAC Elite.

At VCT GC APAC Elite, Team SMG made an undefeated run to secure the VCT GC Championship. The debutants will face some of the strongest GC squads in the world and will be only the second team without International experience at all.

East Asia - Cho Hui EDward Gaming:

The main EDward Gaming roster made waves in VCT 2023 circuit and now it's Cho Hui's turn. The Game Changers division of Chinese EDward Gaming made a historical run only a few months after the team's formation. The team dominated the preliminary round and qualified for the main qualifier, with three months of dedicated practice.

At the China qualifiers, the team placed second after CCG GC and qualified for the VCT Game Changers East Asia 2023. At the tournament, the exacted their revenge on CCG and took down ZETA Division in the finals to qualify for the VCT GC Championship 2023. The teams run to the top is definitely one for the history books, they qualified for the biggest tournament of the year only five months of coming together.

The Cho Hui EDG will definitely be a strong debutant at the tournament and any team that goes against them will face their fury.

With EDG Cho Hui, we have the eight competiting teams for VCT GC Championship 2023, Riot will soon announce the detailed schedule for the tournament and the teams will start preparing for their games. In three weeks, we will crown the 2023 VCT Game Changers Champion.

Team Vitality CEO Neo: "For Us to be a Global Leader Means Being a Contender at EWC"

Team Vitality remains one of the most influential and well-known esports organizations to date. The Paris-based org fields over 20 esports teams in various esports, though their immensely impressive results in Counter-Strike take center stage.  Being one of the organizations present at Esports World Cup 2026 in Paris, we managed to speak with Fabien "Neo" Devide, Co-Founder and CEO of the Hive, just after an interview with Mike McCabe, COO of the Esports World Cup Foundation, at the opening press conference at EWC. Neo provided a ton of insight into the organization's participation at this year's edition of EWC in Paris. He expressed his desire for the org to perform to the highest standards, but also highlighted that rivalry is key to grow the ecosystem. Additionally, Neo gave strong opinions on the growth of mobile esports following last year's Vitality's takeover and merger with Indonesian side Bigetron, stressing the need for innovation and following ideas in the east, as much as the west.
