On the backs of the rumored Version1 - G2 Esports merger, the Valorant Game Changers Championship-bound Version1 squad has been acquired by Shopify Rebellion. With the acquisition, the qualified five and the support staff will play at the upcoming VCT Game Changers Championship 2023 under the Shopify Rebellion banner.

The announcement came last night, 16 November, on the respective organizations Twitter/X. Initially Shopify Rebellion announced the acquisition of the Version1 roster.

Version1 followed it up with a farewell post of their own, wishing the squad the best for Brazil.

With the acquisition, the new Shopify Rebellion GC squad will be:

The transfer solidifies the G2-Version1 transfer rumors. With the two organizations merging, having both Version1 and G2 Gozen at the VCT Game Changers Championship would’ve led to a conflict of interest. The transfer of Version1 Valorant roster to Shopify Rebellion is to ensure the squads get to play their best without external problems.

Both the G2 Gozen and Version1 (now Shopify Rebellion) have been the top Valorant GC squads. They are the favorites to win at the event and dominated the GC scenes in their respective region throughout the year. If the organizations had merged, one of the teams would’ve had to forfeit from the tournament.

SR GC themselves were the rivals for the Version1 squad, unfortunately they failed to qualify for the tournament and later parted ways with the roster. With the newly acquired Version1 squad, Shopify Rebellion would attend their second GC championship.

The organization and players will want to atleast replicate last year's results and try to go a step further by winning it all in Brazil. VCT also confirmed SR GC’s participation at VCT GC Championship 2023 post-transfer.

The tournament is a few weeks away and the squad will shortly depart for Sao Paulo. With the best of the teams attending the tournament, VCT GC Championship will be another tournament to savor.
