The Elimination Stage of the PGL Major Copenhagen 2024 has finally concluded. And fans have their first look at the eight teams that are going to be competing in the Playoffs for the coveted title of the first CS2 Champions.

Format Run-Down:

The Elimination Stage ran from March 21st to 24th, 2024, featuring a 16-team Swiss system format.

  • Rounds 2 to 5 were seeded utilizing the Buchholz system alongside the teams' initial seeds.
  • Matches during the elimination and advancement stages adhered to a Best of 3 format, while all other matches were Best of 1.
  • Following the conclusion of this stage, the top 8 teams progressed to the Playoff Stage, while the bottom 8 teams were eliminated from the competition.

The Top Contenders: The 3-0 Club

MOUZ became the first team in the Elimination Stage to qualify for the Playoffs. They started off with close wins against ECSTATIC and Eternal Fire. they closed out the Elimination Stage by absolutely demolishing Complexity at 2-0.

Team Spirit continues their upward trajectory, as they qualified for the Playoffs with a clean 3-0. They amassed wins against Cloud9 and Imperials in the Bo1s. and closed it out with a 2-1 win against NaVi in the Bo3.

The Minor Setbacks: 3-1 Winners

Eternal Fire continues their Major run, as they manage to beat Virtus.pro in Day 3 Round 4 of the Elimination Stage.

Team Vitality joins the 3-1 win, as they secure the Playoffs. They are currently the reigning Major Champions, having won the last BLAST Paris Major 2022.

Cloud9 have managed to find a resurgence in their form. They had a dominant victory 2-1 over NaVi to qualify for the Playoffs.

The Scrappers: 3-2 Group

Faze Clan were the first to secure their Playoffs spot on the final day of the Elimination Stage. With a dominant 2-0 victory over Complexity, they live to fight on for the hopes of another Major title.

G2 Esports took the second remaining spot for the Playoffs. They cut short former Major winners Virtus.pro’s (won as Outsiders) Major journey, as G2 won 2-1 after a very close series.

NaVi managed to secure the final Playoffs spot. They had a dominant 2-0 win against paiN Gaming, and closed out the list of the qualified teams.
