American esports virtuoso Nicholas “nitr0” Cannella has unleashed a wave of anticipation by rekindling his passion for VALORANT. With an air of finality, he bids adieu to the familiar battlegrounds of Counter-Strike, embarking on a thrilling odyssey with M80 for the highly anticipated 2024 season. This marks his second transition to Riot Games’ tactical shooter, following his initial switch in 2020. This confirms a rumor we reported back in September.

M80 Reloads: New Faces, Familiar Names

M80, narrowly missing out on a VCT Americas spot last season, is gearing up for another shot at glory. Joining nitr0 on the revamped roster is former XSET/Evil Geniuses member Brendan “BcJ” Jensen. The team also welcomes back head coach and CS Major winner Vincent “Happy” Schopenhauer.

Returning from the previous season are Gianfranco “koalanoob” Potesti, Marc-Andre “NiSMO” Tayar, and Alexander “Zander” Dituri. Notably, all members were given the opportunity to explore other offers post last season.

Nitr0 and BcJ step into the shoes of Mouhamed “johnqt” Ouarid and Daniel “eeiu” Vucenovic, who departed for Sentinels and 100 Thieves, respectively.

Nitr0's VALORANT Triumphs and Trials

Nitr0’s first stint into VALORANT in 2020 saw him claim victory at First Strike and secure a semifinal spot at Masters Berlin 2021. All-the-while being part of the veteran-stacked 100 Thieves roster. However, his subsequent return to CS:GO with Team Liquid in early 2022 didn’t mirror the earlier success. The esports luminary eventually hung up his CS:GO boots in June 2023.

With the NA Challengers scene experiencing a shakeup due to the departure of several notable organizations, M80 and its formidable roster now find themselves in a prime position to make a strong run at Ascension in 2024. The upcoming Challengers series, commencing on January 31, serves as the battleground for their resurgence.

What Lies Ahead for M80 and Nitr0?

As the stage is set for M80 to potentially grace the VCT Americas in 2025, the esports community eagerly anticipates the outcome of this new chapter for nitr0. Will he recreate past triumphs, or will new challenges emerge in the ever-evolving world of VALORANT?
