As Stage 3 of the IEM Cologne Major 2026 wraps up, the final eight Counter-Strike teams are locked in for the Lanxess Arena and the last sprint towards the trophy. The Pick’Ems have already punished risky calls and shaky favorites, and with Counter-Strike’s true heavyweights now colliding in a single-elimination bracket, predicting the playoffs only gets harder.
The playoffs run from June 18–21, 2026, with all matches as Bo3, except the Grand Finals, which will be a grueling Bo5.
Note: These are educated picks based on recent form, tournament runs, and overall team quality. Stage 3 has brought together the biggest names in CS2 and balanced both strength and form, which naturally makes this phase more volatile than the earlier stages.
How CS2 Major Playoffs Pick’Ems Work
The CS2 Major Pick’Ems system has changed significantly for this Major cycle, including IEM Cologne 2026, with new formats and coin progression paths compared to the old CS:GO era. For a complete breakdown, you can check out our detailed guide on how to play the IEM Cologne Major Pick'Em Challenge.
Unlike the first three stages, the playoffs Pick’Ems are straightforward: you simply predict which team advances from each matchup all the way to the grand final and then lock in your choice for the Major champion. This makes every upset that much more punishing if you miss an early favorite.

IEM Cologne Major Playoffs Pick'Ems: Strafe's Predictions

Quarter Finals:
Aurora vs BetBoom
Aurora head into the Lanxess in scorching form. After an early stumble against Team Spirit, they bounced back by dismantling G2 and taking down dark horse 9z to secure their playoff spot. Newcomer Caner "soulfly" Kesici has been one of the breakout stories of the Major so far, consistently stepping up in key moments and offering Aurora an extra win condition whenever some of their established stars fade into the background.
BetBoom’s path has been longer and far more gruelling. They scraped through Stage 3 with a 3-2 record, but that doesn’t tell the full story of a roster grinding from Stage 1, building experience and confidence with every best-of-three. Guided by Kirill "Boombl4" Mikhailov, a former Major champion, the team has rallied around two rookies and survived some brutal tests. With their mental resilience, map depth, and leadership edge, Strafe is backing BetBoom to narrowly edge Aurora, even if Aurora’s firepower keeps it razor close.
Pick: BetBoom
FURIA vs 9z
The second quarterfinal sets up a pure South American derby: FURIA versus the dark horses of the Major, 9z. FURIA’s form heading into Cologne had raised doubts, but a flawless 3-0 run in Stage 3—with wins over B8, MOUZ, and 9z themselves—has pushed them right back into the trophy conversation. This rematch is familiar ground for the Brazilians, and that prior head-to-head success can be huge in a high-pressure arena elimination setting.
9z, much like BetBoom, have completely smashed pre-tournament expectations. Climbing all the way from Stage 2, they’ve consistently punched above their weight, putting up standout showings against the likes of Astralis and Vitality. Star riflers Franco "dgt" Garcia and Luciano "luchov" Herrera have been crucial in pulling them out of tight situations and dragging 9z through maps they had no right winning. Still, this feels like where the miracle run hits its ceiling: FURIA’s proven firepower and big-stage experience make them the smarter Pick’Ems call.
Pick: FURIA
Team Spirit vs G2 Esports
Team Spirit enter the Lanxess off a pristine 3-0 run in Stage 3, with convincing wins over NaVi, Aurora, and 9z. Even without their coaching staff physically present, Spirit delivered one of the most dominant performances of the stage, showing strong preparation and mental resilience under pressure. The expectation is that their coaches will be able to join them by the time the playoffs begin, and if Spirit are at full strength with donk playing in peak form, it is extremely difficult to justify betting against them here.
G2, by contrast, scraped through from the 3-2 bracket after a close series against NaVi. On paper the names still look elite, but their route to the playoffs has been anything but convincing. Their narrow win over former Major champions NaVi showed some resilience, and Sunpayus finally started to look like the AWPer G2 signed for big games—but to topple another Major-winning lineup in Spirit, he will need to hit an even higher ceiling. Given the gap in consistency and current form, Spirit are the safer and smarter Pick’Em choice for this matchup.
Pick: Team Spirit
Team Vitality vs Team Falcons
The final quarterfinal is one that easily feels like a semifinal or even a grand final. Vitality have looked close to untouchable for most of the season, and while their loss to 9z in Stage 3 proved that even giants can fall, they instantly rebounded with strong wins over MOUZ and BetBoom to secure a playoffs spot. That recovery, on top of their year-long consistency, reinforces why they are still regarded as the best team in the world.
Falcons, however, are no longer just a “project” team. With wins over G2, Monte, and NaVi and only a single loss to BetBoom, they look sharper with every series. Karrigan’s influence is immediately noticable: two grand finals already and now a Major playoff, with kyousuke unleashed mechanically and TeSeS thriving in a flex role. Still, identity and grit are usually not enough to topple a well-drilled, high-ceiling roster like Vitality in the arena. Falcons can absolutely push this to three maps, but in terms of depth, experience, and adaptability, Vitality remain the disciplined Pick’Em choice.
Pick: Team Vitality
Semifinals:
Team Spirit vs Team Vitality
On paper, this is an explosive clash between Spirit’s raw firepower and Vitality’s structure and flexibility. Spirit’s momentum and star power give them real upset potential, but across multiple maps, Vitality’s deeper playbook and in-series adaptability tip the scales in their favor. Over a best-of-three, the French–international superteam simply looks better equipped to survive any early pressure, adjust mid-series, and close out tight deciders, so Vitality are the recommended Pick’Em choice to reach the grand final.
Pick: Team Vitality
BetBoom vs FURIA
BetBoom’s Cinderella story likely finds its limit here. While their discipline and Boombl4’s leadership have carried them from Stage 1 to the playoffs, FURIA’s mix of explosive aggression, firepower, and experience should give the Brazilians an edge. Over a full best-of-three, FURIA have more reliable fragging across the lineup and a higher probability of closing out mid-round advantages, making them the more stable pick to move on to the grand final.
Pick: FURIA
Grand Final: Vitality vs FURIA
In Strafe’s bracket, the IEM Cologne Major 2026 trophy comes down to Team Vitality vs FURIA. Vitality’s reputation as the best team in the world is not just narrative; it is backed by their consistency under pressure, their deep map pool, and their ability to recover from poor starts within a series. Over a grueling best-of-five, those strengths only get amplified, as the more complete and tactically flexible team tends to prevail.
For FURIA, this would be a dream storyline. The Professor lifting a Major before his retirement at the end of the year would be one of the most iconic moments in CS history. But emotionally satisfying narratives do not always translate into Pick’Em points. As much as fans might want to believe in a Brazilian fairy tale, FURIA have not shown enough consistency over long series to inspire full confidence against a titan like Vitality in a Bo5.
With all that in mind, Vitality are Strafe’s pick to win the IEM Cologne Major 2026 and the safest choice to secure your Diamond Coin in the final stage of the Pick’Em Challenge.
Champion Pick: Team Vitality
