Dota 2 patch 7.40b has shaken up the meta. New items, map changes, a brand new season of Neutrals introduced. But one thing remains the same. Everyone is looking for mid heroes to grind MMR in Dota 2patch 7.40b.

We are listing down the three best pub stompers this patch. While all these heroes require significant micro play to work, there is no doubt that all three are fantastic for climbing the MMR ladder.

Visage

Starting off our list is Visage the Necro'lic. Boosting some of the strongest summons in the game, Visage is played as a fast push mid who wins games in under 25 minutes.

The laning stage is often neutral for the hero. Soul Assumption allows him to trade when harassed, while Grave Chill is a decent steroid spell. The hero needs to do well early on, as he focuses on snowballing quickly and doesn't thrive in the late-game.

The hero comes online at level six, thanks to his Familiars. It's a huge power spike to the hero, giving him extra units that deal damage as well as stun enemies. The hero's item build focuses on buffing him and his summons to bring down enemies and buildings alike.

Boots of Bearing, along with Vladmir's offering is a big damage boost for the hero. Afterwards players can opt for Assault Cuirass for further damage, or Aghanim's upgrades to increase surivability.

The main thing that makes Visage such a strong mid hero to grind MMR in Dota 2 patch 7.40b is his fast pushing ability. Against uncoordinated pubs, they rarely group up to defend effectively. If only one enemy shows up to protect a tower, they are often easy pickings for Visage.

Pick Visage, get Drums, and take down buildings! The hero is currently hovering at a 55% win rate in Ancient bracket.

Meepo

Taking micro play to the extreme, Meepo is an extremely strong mid hero to pick up. While certainly not easy, his 56% win rate makes him well worth mastering if you're serious about ranking up.

Meepo does well in the lane because starting at level 3, enemies are essentially laning against two heroes. This makes it very difficult for opposing midlaners to last hit and deny. This advantage allows Meepo to snowball early while shutting down the enemy's (usually) main offensive hero.

The hero can do everything well. If Meepo is ahead, he can hunt enemies and secure kills for the team. High physical damage allows him to bring down buildings as well. If the lane somehow goes badly, then Meepo is ideal for jungling and recovering.

The hero has a fairly cookie-cutter item build. Blink Dagger to approach enemies, followed by both Aghanim upgrades. Eye of Skadi is fantastic stats, while Power Treads are the best footwear to have.

The only issue with Meepo is the high skill floor required to play him. No other hero has to worry about his illusions/summons/clones dying the same way. You need high micro to make him work, but when he does, Meepo is a terrifying threat on the map.

Broodmother

The most successful mid hero for grinding MMR in Dota 2 patch 7.40b is Broodmother. The hero was actually nerfed in the most recent update, due to how overwhelmingly strong she was.

Despite the nerfs, Broodmother remains a terror at all stages of the game. She wins the laning stage just by having Necrotic Webs. Reducing the regeneration enemies have makes it very easy to win trades. More so thanks to the multiple lifesteal bonuses the hero has.

One of the benefits of playing Broodmother is how hard the hero is to bring down. Webs allow her to hide in trees and climb over cliffs, along with bonus movement speeds. Some heroes such as Bounty Hunter and Spirit Breaker can keep up with Brood, but they are among the very few.

The item build for the hero focuses on maximizing her right click damage. An early Orchid to prevent enemies from fighting back, and then it's Black King Bar, Butterfly, Bloodthorn, and Manta Style. Some players opt for Khanda which can also help burst down enemies with annoying passives.

Similar to the previously mentioned heroes, Broodmother is amazing at bringing down buildings. Forcing enemies to chase you around the map or lose structures is one of the most impactful things a player can do in Dota, and Broodmother is among the best at it.

With her strong laning, elusive playstyle, and high damage, it's no wonder that Broodmother is currently the best mid her to grind MMR in patch 7.40b.
