The International 2026 Meta Recap: Hoodwink Dethroned
The International 2026 is over, and after a long-lasting reign, Hoodwink was finally dethroned as the most popular pick in Tier 1 tournaments. Team Blue has taken the lead, but what about performance?
Let's take a look at the five most popular heroes and the most performant picks that might be hidden in the Shadow Meta to ease the way up the ladder in your ranked matches and in the Dark Carnival.
The International 2026 Meta Recap
"Perfect Balance"
The list of most popular heroes has found some balance, with a hero of each of the primary colors. Undying took fifth place with 22 victories in 49 matches, amounting to a 44.90% win rate.
Winter Wyvern got a spike in popularity and not only breached into the Top 5 in fourth place but also got the best win rate, with 29 victories in 51 matches and a respectable 56.86% win rate.
Third place was the (kinda) red Centaur Warrunner. He was present in 59 matches and lost 29 of them, amounting to a grand total of 49.15%, the second-highest in the Top 5.
Hoodwink Loses Her Throne
After pretty much half a year monopolizing the title of most popular pick, Hoodwink fell to second place in the Playoffs. She took part in 73 matches, only won 30 of them, and had the worst performance among the most popular heroes with a 41.10% win rate.
Finally, Mirana leaps forward to the post of most popular pick. With 34 victories in the same 73 matches, she is not that much ahead of Hoodwink in terms of performance but snatches first place with a 46.58% win rate.
Shadow Meta: Unexpected Visitors
As expected, the Shadow Meta is very restricted, with a handful of heroes that managed to perform over a 60% win rate in at least 10% of the 148 total matches of The International 2026.
Over 70% Win Rate
Bounty Hunter stands alone in the hero pool with over a 70% win rate at The International 2026. He won 11 out of the 15 matches where he was picked and won 5 out of 5 games in the hands of Team Yandex.
Over 60% Win Rate
The list of heroes with more than a 60% win rate is also relatively restricted but has a wider range of picks, as displayed below:

Pangolier had the best performance out of the bunch, but Earth Spirit was the most impressive performer. Despite his popularity and almost making it into the Top 5, Earth Spirit still holds a 65.91% win rate and is the strongest midlaner of the tournament.
Despite a succession of nerfs, Kez is still strong in the right hands and also displayed amazing performances during The International 2026. You should consider picking him if you play as a carry.
Closing Thoughts
We might have a post-TI patch to balance the stronger heroes, so make sure to make the best of them while you can. Bounty Hunter is a good support pick, Earth Spirit dominates in most positions, and Pangolier is a good pick both as a midlaner and as an offlaner.
