Pontus “Zyppan” Eek, the Swedish duelist and initiator, is reportedly set to join Gentle Mates for the 2025 VCT EMEA season. After spending almost two years with Natus Vincere, Zyppan has reportedly reached a verbal agreement with the French club, replacing Nathan “nataNk” Bocqueho, according to reports from Alejandro "Anonimotum" Gomis.

The 23-year-old Swede, known for his versatility as both a Duelist and Initiator, reportedly garnered interest from multiple teams in the region.

Sources indicated that three other VCT EMEA teams pursued Zyppan, with one team reportedly placing him as their second top pick for their 2025 roster.

Fresh Start After NAVI Stint

Zyppan rose to prominence in 2021 with FunPlus Phoenix, competing at the highest levels of EMEA. Although FPX dominated domestically, it was their victory at Masters Copenhagen 2022 that cemented their place on the international stage.

NAVI acquired FPX’s roster in 2023, keeping most of the original lineup intact, including Zyppan. Despite showing promise, NAVI fell short on the international stage.

Although they did manage to compete internationally in the 2023 season, their 2024 season was one to forget. With 5th-6th place finishes in both VCT EMEA Stages. And to add insult to injury, failure to qualify for any of the international tournaments as well.

For Gentle Mates, Zyppan’s arrival represents a significant step in rebuilding after a disappointing 2024 season. The French club, who earned promotion to VCT EMEA in 2023 through Ascension, struggled in their debut year at the highest level. Despite changes during the season, Gentle Mates finished a disappointing 9th in Stage 2.

Zyppan’s addition follows the reported recruitments of Patrik “Minny” Hušek, Robbie “RobbieBk” Boerkamp, and new coach Alex “Goked” Kie. With Zyppan also joining this refreshed roster, Gentle Mates are aiming for a stronger showing in 2025.

Is VALORANT Crossplay? PC, PS5, Xbox & Mobile Explained (2026)

VALORANT does not offer crossplay between PC and console. This means that PC players can only match and play against other PC players, and console players (PS5 and Xbox) players can only match and play against other console players. While there is no crossplay in VALORANT, the game does support cross progression, which means that your account, skins, and any other form of progress carry from one platform to the other (from PC to console, and vice versa).
