The 2026 League of Legends World Championship is almost here, and it’s time to look at the best players heading into the tournament.

First up, we set out to the difficult task of ranking who we think are the best five top lane players attending this year's Worlds. Keep in mind that this ranking will be a reflection of these players' current form, capacity to perform under pressure, influence on their teams' success, champion pool depth, and Worlds meta affinity.

So, without further ado, let's take a look at the best top laners of Worlds 2026!

Honorable Mentions

Beyond the top five, several other top laners deserve an honorable mention ahead of Worlds 2026.

Kim "Canna" Chang-dong of Karmine Corp, and Jeon "Siwoo" Si-woo of Dplus KIA are worth watching, while Park "Thanatos" Seung-gyu of Cloud9 and Park "Morgan" Ru-han of Team Liquid also bring experience and different playstyles to the competition.

Although they may not be the main contenders for the top spots in this ranking, their performances could still make them stand out during the tournament.

Note that since it appears he will have to miss the oturnament due to visa issues, Cheng “ZUIAN” Zi-Hao was not eligible to make this list.

5. BrokenBlade (G2)

Sergen "BrokenBlade" Çelik has become one of the LEC's defining top laners, and Worlds 2026 offers another opportunity to show how his playstyle holds up against the best in the world.

Unlike players who rely heavily on winning lane through individual mechanics, the German top laner is known for his willingness to take unconventional picks and adapt to what his team needs.

His 2026 numbers also reflect a productive season, with a 3.18 KDA and a 66.7% win rate across 132 games. However, the biggest question for BrokenBlade is not his domestic consistency, but whether he can maintain that level against elite international opposition.

G2 Esports will need him to find ways to influence games even when he faces difficult matchups, especially against top laners who can punish small mistakes.

With another Worlds appearance ahead, BrokenBlade has a chance to strengthen his reputation beyond Europe. By reaching the First Stand final, G2 reignited European fans’ hopes of seeing an LEC team compete for international titles.

4. Doran (T1)

Choi "Doran" Hyeon-jun enters Worlds 2026 looking to defend the title he won with T1 last year. While his stats may not stand out compared to other top laners, Doran's reliability and ability to support T1's game plan remain important strengths.

Across 49 games in 2026, he recorded a 2.83 KDA and a 67.3% win rate, showing that he has remained a reliable contributor throughout the season.

One of Doran's main strengths is his adaptability. Rather than always demanding resources to carry games, he can play a more supportive role, create space for his teammates, and provide a dependable presence in team fights.

This flexibility is particularly valuable for T1, whose success often depends on coordinating the strengths of its star players.

Having already experienced the pressure of a Worlds campaign and emerged as champion, Doran has the opportunity to prove that last year's success was no one-off. If he can maintain his consistency and deliver when it matters most, he could once again play a crucial role in T1's pursuit of another international title.

3. Bin (BLG)

Chen "Bin" Ze-Bin remains one of the most dangerous top laners heading into Worlds 2026, thanks to his aggressive playstyle, mechanical skill, and ability to carry games from the top lane. In 2026, he helped Bilibili Gaming win First Stand and two of the three LPL regional tournaments, further strengthening his case as one of the favourites heading into Worlds.

The Chinese player is known for his proficiency on carry champions such as Jax and Camille, allowing him to take control of the laning phase and put pressure on opponents throughout the game.  His confidence in one-on-one matchups makes him a particularly difficult player to contain, especially when he gains an early advantage.

Bin also had a strong showing at MSI 2026, recording a 2.85 KDA and a 64.71% win rate across 17 games. While these numbers do not tell the whole story of his impact, his ability to bring pressure to the game and draw attention from the opposing team makes him a valuable asset for BLG.

His performances against elite international competition have consistently proven that he can compete with the best top laners in the world. As Worlds approaches, Bin will look to lead BLG on another deep tournament run.

2. Kiin (GEN)

Kim "Kiin" Gi-in heads into Worlds 2026 after another great season with Gen.G, winning the LCK 2026 season after defeating Hanwha Life Esports in the final. His consistency and experience have made him a key part of Gen.G’s success, with the veteran top laner able to hold his own in lane while providing reliable team-fight performances.

Kiin was also instrumental in Gen.G's successful LCK campaign, finishing the 2026 season with a 3.83 KDA and a 72.46% win rate across 69 games. He raised his level further in the playoffs, recording a 5.1 KDA as Gen.G defeated Hanwha Life Esports in the final to secure the title.

Whether playing carries or tanks, Kiin offers the flexibility to adapt to different team compositions and support his teammates when the game reaches its most decisive moments. He can create advantages through strong laning and individual outplays, but he is also comfortable taking a more supportive role when his team needs a reliable frontline.

This balance makes him a valuable asset in a tournament where teams must adapt quickly to different opponents and playstyles.

With another LCK title secured, Kiin will look to carry Gen.G’s domestic success onto the international stage. His experience against Korea’s strongest teams, combined with his ability to perform across a wide range of champions, makes him an important player to watch as Gen.G pursue the Worlds title.

1. Zeus (HLE)

Choi "Zeus" Woo-je enters Worlds 2026 as one of the strongest top laners in the competition after winning MSI 2026 with Hanwha Life Esports. His performance throughout the tournament, which culminated in a victory over Bilibili Gaming in the final, further strengthened his reputation as one of the best players in his role.

He also had a great LCK season, recording a 3.32 KDA and a 62.96% win rate across 81 games.

One of Zeus's biggest strengths is his ability to adapt to different team compositions. Whether playing carry champions that allow him to take control of the game or tanks that help his team in team fights, he can make an impact without always needing to be the main focus of his team's resources.

Zeus is also aiming to claim his third Worlds title, which would be his first since leaving T1 at the end of 2024. After winning one of the year's biggest international tournaments with HLE, Zeus will look to carry that momentum into Worlds as he aims to help his team lift the most prestigious trophy in competitive League of Legends.
