Dota 2 patch 7.39d will be the gameplay patch for The International in September. As they patch will likely last for quite some time, we figured it would be a good time to list the best heroes for each role.

In this article, we are counting down the three best mid lane heroes for you to grind MMR. These heroes are somewhat difficult to use, but incredibly powerful in the right hands.

Outworld Devourer

If there is one hero who can do well in any match up, it's Outworld Devourer. The hero is a solid laner, with a versatile skill set and pure damage that ignores armor.

Let's start with the laning stage. Astral Imprisonment is a good way to secure last hits and denies. Enemies literally are off the map and unable to contest. It also deals damage and can be used to save allies in skirmishes.

Arcane Orb is where the real damage is. It's pure and therefore ignores armor. It deals a percentage of OD's mana as damage, and given that OD can reach several thousand mana points, that's a very painful hit.

One nice thing about OD is he offers a flexible item build. Players can opt for Black King Bar, Aghanim's Scepter, Hurricane Pike, Parasma, or Hex. The choice is yours, and allows the hero to adapt to different situations.

While not super flash early, OD is a reliable laner, with powerful scaling abilities. If you're looking to start in the mid lane, then Outworld Devourer is a very solid option.

Broodmother

We're moving on to more complex mid laners. Broodmother isn't a super easy hero to master, but she offers near-unparalleled pressure on the enemy team.

Players will max Hunger to sustain themselves early and secure CS. Brood doesn't have nukes to win the lane, so good last-hitting skills are a must. A point in all her other abilities by 6 is advised.

Once she has her children available and an Orchid, Brood can hunt down anyone on the map, especially juicy supports. She is incredibly difficult to pin down and can overwhelm enemies. Be sure to plant Observer wards yourself, as Brood is far more mobile than her allies.

After Orchid, get a BKB and upgrade to Bloodthorn. Games will be nearly over by that point, so just focus on killing stragglers and bringing down buildings. If you want to win games solo, Broodmother is one of the best mid heroes to grind MMR in Dota 2 patch 7.39d.

Meepo

Sticking to our theme of 'complicated-but-can-solo-win" mid heroes, we have the ultimate pub stomper. The hero who helped Aliwi "w33" Omar rise to prominence. It's None other than Meepo.

I'm not going to pretend I know what Meepo players need to do to win the lane. Poof is a solid spell for securing creeps, but zoning enemies out is rough for the Geomancer. Players will need to do well early on, to snowball later.

Once Meepo has a few levels in, and a Blink Dagger, you can roam around the map to set up kills. Clone Meepos can farm while the original hunts down whoever he can find.

Stats are the name of the game for Meepo. Wraith Bands, Aghanim's Scepter, Shard, and then an Eye of Skadi to secure late. The hero is incredibly difficult to bring down in a fight with proper usage of his Aghanim Upgrades.

The 55% win rate comes at a cost. Meepo is a very hard hero to master, but once you know how to play him, he is without a doubt the best mid lane hero to grind MMR in Dota 2 patch 7.39d.
