In the Lower Bracket Semifinals of VCT Masters Shanghai, Team Heretics faced off against 100 Thieves.

Team Heretics, displaying exceptional skill and strategy, defeated 100 Thieves in a dominant 2-0 performance, setting the stage for a revenge match against G2.

The Journey So Far

100 Thieves began their campaign with an initial win against FUT, but their journey took a challenging turn when they were relegated to the lower bracket by tournament favorites Gen.G.

However, they bounced back spectacularly by defeating the Pacific Champions, Paper Rex, in a surprising upset, thereby earning their matchup against Team Heretics.

Team Heretics started strong, defeating the Chinese home side EDG, but were subsequently sent to the lower bracket by G2.

Undeterred, they regained their form and delivered a commanding performance against FUT Esports, setting the stage for their clash with 100 Thieves.

Team Heretics vs. 100 Thieves

The match began on Bind, picked by 100 Thieves, where Team Heretics led 8-4 at halftime. 100 Thieves fought back to reach Map Point, but Team Heretics tied the game, pushing it to Overtime. In a tense finish, Team Heretics won the second Overtime, securing the map 15-13.

The second map, Sunset, showcased Team Heretics' dominance. Starting on defense, they overwhelmed 100 Thieves, allowing them only a single round and closing the first half with an 11-1 scoreline. Their momentum continued into the second half, where they won the pistol round and the subsequent round, sealing the map with a staggering 13-1 victory.

“First of all, we have a better IGL. Second, we have better coach staff.”
-Mert "Wo0t" Alkan on Team Heretics’ dominant performance against 100 Thieves

For 100 Thieves, this defeat marks the end of their VCT Masters Shanghai journey. Despite their elimination, they achieved a commendable top 4 finish and had the honor of competing in the prestigious Mercedes-Benz Arena.

“We lost today, it sucks, but overall, I think we still are one of the best teams in the world. We’ll definitely make Champs, and we’re very confident going into Americas Stage 2.”
-Kelden "Boostio" Pupello on what’s next for 100 Thieves.

Team Heretics, on the other hand, advanced to the Lower Bracket Finals, where G2 awaits. This matchup offers Team Heretics a chance for revenge and the opportunity to progress to the Grand Finals.

“When we play good fundamentally, we’re just winning rounds. It’s as easy as that. So, combining that with playing them a third time, they’re obviously a good team, but it’s on us if we win or lose. And we’re going to do our best to use what we have learnt during the tournament.”
-Ričardas "Boo" Lukaševičius on their revenge matchup against G2.

Team Vitality CEO Neo: "For Us to be a Global Leader Means Being a Contender at EWC"

Team Vitality remains one of the most influential and well-known esports organizations to date. The Paris-based org fields over 20 esports teams in various esports, though their immensely impressive results in Counter-Strike take center stage.  Being one of the organizations present at Esports World Cup 2026 in Paris, we managed to speak with Fabien "Neo" Devide, Co-Founder and CEO of the Hive, just after an interview with Mike McCabe, COO of the Esports World Cup Foundation, at the opening press conference at EWC. Neo provided a ton of insight into the organization's participation at this year's edition of EWC in Paris. He expressed his desire for the org to perform to the highest standards, but also highlighted that rivalry is key to grow the ecosystem. Additionally, Neo gave strong opinions on the growth of mobile esports following last year's Vitality's takeover and merger with Indonesian side Bigetron, stressing the need for innovation and following ideas in the east, as much as the west.
