In a surprising turn of events, Shopify Rebellion has rattled the VALORANT community by suddenly revealing their decision to release their VALORANT Game Changers roster with immediate effect. This move now grants the players the freedom to explore new opportunities as they transition into 2024, unrestricted by contractual obligations.

The announcement came via a video posted on Twitter on October 26, featuring program development lead Dario “TLO” Wünsch. He conveyed, “Today we are announcing the release of our VALORANT Game Changers roster, allowing all of them to explore their options unconditionally going into 2024.”

Successes and Shortcomings

This revelation surprised many. Since the Game Changers roster has been Shopify Rebellion's most successful team in the realm of VALORANT. While their male counterparts have struggled in the tier two scene. But Shopify Rebellion Game Changers made history by attending the inaugural Game Changers World Championship last year. During the championship, they notably ousted their long-time rival Cloud9 White. And managed to secure a second-place finish worldwide after a thrilling reverse sweep by G2 Gozen.

Furthermore, the Game Changers team has maintained its core roster in the North American Game Changers scene, with Erika “KP” Lytle, Kayla “flowerful” Horton, and Diana “sonder” Zhang playing together for Shopify GC since June 2021.

However, according to TLO, the 2023 season did not meet their expectations. He candidly admitted,

“The truth is, we struggled this year. Not only in failing to meet our goal of qualifying for Champions but also in establishing the team culture we aspire to build our program on. We brought in new and familiar faces along the way, trying to reach our goals, but regrettably, we fell short of our ambitions.”

Uncertain Future for Players and Organization

The current status of both the players on this roster and Shopify's continued involvement in the Game Changers circuit remains uncertain. TLO expressed confidence that the players would "find success individually" and mentioned Shopify's intention to support them in this endeavor. As for Shopify's future in Game Changers, the direction they will take remains undisclosed.

With the sudden release of a successful Game Changers roster, the VALORANT community is left wondering about the future of both the players and Shopify Rebellion's role in the competitive scene. Only time will tell what new opportunities await these talented individuals. And how Shopify Rebellion will reshape its presence in the Game Changers circuit.

Team Vitality CEO Neo: "For Us to be a Global Leader Means Being a Contender at EWC"

Team Vitality remains one of the most influential and well-known esports organizations to date. The Paris-based org fields over 20 esports teams in various esports, though their immensely impressive results in Counter-Strike take center stage.  Being one of the organizations present at Esports World Cup 2026 in Paris, we managed to speak with Fabien "Neo" Devide, Co-Founder and CEO of the Hive, just after an interview with Mike McCabe, COO of the Esports World Cup Foundation, at the opening press conference at EWC. Neo provided a ton of insight into the organization's participation at this year's edition of EWC in Paris. He expressed his desire for the org to perform to the highest standards, but also highlighted that rivalry is key to grow the ecosystem. Additionally, Neo gave strong opinions on the growth of mobile esports following last year's Vitality's takeover and merger with Indonesian side Bigetron, stressing the need for innovation and following ideas in the east, as much as the west.
