Overwatch Season 3 is now live, and players worldwide can log in to access the new content. The newest season introduces an Omnic to the DPS roster, a neon-laden Hybrid map, new Mythic skins, and much more. Below is a brief look at the Overwatch Season 3 patch notes and everything the season offers.

Highlights of Overwatch Season 3 Patch

  • New Hero - Shion: The newest addition to the Damage roster is an Omnic and a leader of the notorious Hashimoto Clan. The Japanese hero has a unique kit and design, which we’ve explored in detail in our dedicated article

  • New Map - Neon Junction: Overwatch takes us to Shion’s roots with a new Hybrid map.

  • Anima Strike Event: From June 16 to July 6, players can explore the new map and complete daily and weekly challenges to earn rewards.

  • 2 Mythic Skins: The Ascendant Phoenix Illari Mythic hero skin and the Tokyo Rebel Hanzo Mythic weapon skin are now purchasable.

Core Game Updates

  • The Roster: You can now choose up to 3 preferred heroes in each role. This will be displayed pre-game, during Map Voting, Preferred Hero, and Hero Bans.

  • Map Voting Updates: You can now experience more map variety, as the maps you played in the last 5 matches are now less likely to be offered to you.

  • Practice Range: Floating Combat Text enabled.

  • Post-Match Accolades: Reworked cards that showed up too often and increased the odds of some other cards appearing.

  • Streamer Mode: Added new fake names.

Competitive Play Updates

  • Hero Bans: Your Roster's #1 hero now contributes 3 negative votes (equivalent to a 3rd place vote). The Hero Bans phase now displays the number of votes for each of your choices (7 for 1st place, 5 for 2nd place, and 3 for 3rd place) and the total number of votes your team has contributed together for each hero.

  • Lobby Bans: A 5th ban slot has been added. This also breaks the 2-hero role limit. Lobby bans are determined by combining votes from both teams. For a hero to be Lobby Banned, they must receive at least one ban vote from each team and a total of 10 votes across both teams.

  • Top 500 Challenger Live Replays: You can now watch live replays (with a delay) of ongoing matches for players on the Top 500 Challenger Leaderboards.

  • Cheater Compensation: Rank Progress compensation awarded to higher Rank players now scales down by respecting the Pressure Modifier.
