Mario "malbsMd" Samayoa has officially joined G2 Esports, marking his first experience into a tier-one team. This announcement comes after weeks of speculation and follows his impressive performances under TeamOne and M80. The 21-year-old Guatemalan will replace Nemanja "nexa" Isaković, who was recently benched.

The rising star who caught everyone's attention

MalbsMd has shown consistent growth, particularly after joining M80, where he achieved a 1.26 average rating in Counter-Strike 2. His exceptional performance at ESL Pro League Season 19, where he posted a 1.28 rating against G2, undoubtedly caught the organization's attention.

"Super excited for the opportunity of my life, can't still believe this happened but I'm more ready than ever to grind and become a better player and person than I was before" - malbsMd, on X

Role transition for malbsMd or adjustment for G2?

The move presents a new challenge for G2, as malbsMd's aggressive playing style differs significantly from the passive approach of his predecessor, nexa.

This difference is especially notable given that malbsMd's roles on the maps overlap with those of key players like Nemanja "huNter-" Kovač and Nikola "NiKo" Kovač.

How G2 will handle this is still unknown, but we are sure that wherever he plays, malbsMd will be a menace.

G2 Esports 2024 Current Roster

The current G2 roster (as of 29/6/2024) is as follows:

  • Nemanja "huNter-" Kovač (Rifler)
  • Nikola "NiKo" Kovač (Rifler)
  • Ilya "m0NESY" Osipov (AWPer)
  • Rasmus "HooXi" Nielsen (IGL)
  • Mario "malbsMd" Samayoa (Rifler)
  • Wiktor "TaZ" Wojtas (Head Coach)

MalbsMd's first EU experience

Despite his experience, this is malbsMd's first opportunity to play for a European team. Although he has previously communicated in English with his North American teammates. His performances include participation in major tournaments like IEM Katowice 2024 and ESL Pro League 19.

After joining only in November of last year, nexa's second departure from G2 leaves a gap that malbsMd needs to fill. Nexa had been a key player in helping G2 secure victory at IEM Dallas 2024 and achieving semifinalist positions at IEM Chengdu and PGL Major CS2 Copenhagen.

As the community reacts to this change, many are eager to see how G2 will integrate malbsMd's aggressive style into their strategies. The team's dynamic and how they will adapt to these new roles remains a topic of interest and speculation among fans and analysts alike.
