Climbing the ranks in Dota 2 is often a challenge for most players. Unless you are someone like Amer "Miracle-" Al-Barkawi or Satanic, it's a daunting task which makes playing other games an obvious choice! In Dota 2 low-level ranks, there are many noobs, which gives most players a bad experience in the game. However, it can also be a learning step for many newbies.

For players familiar with the basic in-game mechanics, they will be much faster to escape the Dota 2 low-level ranks. However, they will stay stuck in some rank until they understand the concepts of certain in-game fundamentals.

Is It Possible to Calibrate Higher Ranks?

However, some players want to achieve higher rank without the hustle of going through the trenches. They may think calibrating high-level match-making rank is easy.

Frankly, there are some truths to this thought. In recent updates, Valve makes it easier for players to achieve high-level ranks.  Nevertheless, there are still some obstacles on the way. Although long-time players can calibrate straight to immortal matchmaking rank, the newcomers will only get to Legend matchmaking rank at max. However, the new rank system Valve implemented has some advantages as well. Newcomers who calibrate at maximum matchmaking, Legend, will meet much stronger opponents. However, until their rank confidence hits 100%, they will have a huge gain or loss in their match-making rank.

Tips for Achieving Higher Rank

Everyone hates playing in Dota 2 low-level ranks. However, achieving the Dota 2 high-level ranks is not easy. The player needs around 47%-49% win rate to calibrate in Ancient match-making rank. To calibrate Divine matchmaking rank, they will need a 50%-53% win rate, which means they will need to win more than half of their calibration games! Nevertheless, it is achievable. Here are some pointers that high-level players use to calibrate at much higher ranks.

Have A Specific Role

It is fun to be versatile in Dota 2. Different roles have different approaches to the game. However, remember you’re here to win. You’re playing to gain that sweet MMR. So, focus on your priorities. If you are the type of player that loves farming, play as the safelaner. If you are a player who loves to fight and farm, play as a midlaner. If you want to start skirmishes and keep the enemies on their toes, play as an offlaner.

Have A Limited Hero Pool

It is fun to give every hero a try in Dota 2. Players look up to those who have a large hero pool. However, unless you are Miracle or Illya "Yatoro" Mulyarchuk, no one cares about your approach to the game until you make a name for yourself in the professional scene. Have 3-4 numbers of heroes that you are comfortable with under any circumstances of the game. Moreover, limit yourself to a maximum of five heroes that can guarantee you a win under any circumstances. You can widen your hero pool once you have mastered those five heroes. Five heroes may not seem like a lot, but it is more than enough to make the game exciting. Moreover, most players playing high-level rank matches only have three heroes they are comfortable with.

Challenge yourself

Change is inevitable in life. The statement is also true in Dota 2. You need to think outside the box to outplay other players to get to high-level ranks in Dota 2. The simplest way to do this is to learn how most professional players play the meta.  Tune into Twitch and catch Topias "Topson" Taavitsainen's stream or Artour "Arteezy" Babaev’s stream to learn how they develop the meta.

Have Destinated time

As you start climbing the Dota 2 ranks, you will notice sometimes, you meet good teammates. However, at most times, you will meet toxic players and account buyers. Always try to play around the time you meet good ones, not toxic ones. Moreover, take this as a caution and never play matchmaking rank after 2 a.m.

Difference in Ranks

Players in Dota 2 high-level ranks are more patient and have more understanding towards the game. However, they are easier to tilt. It will just take one misunderstanding or a misplay for them to give up the match and destroy their items. Nevertheless, they are also the pioneers of the meta. Furthermore, if you can beat the players in Dota 2 high-level ranks, the opportunity to become a professional Dota 2 player is right around the corner.
