ESL One Birmingham 2024: Schedule, Format, Teams and More
The cutthroat qualifiers for The ESL One Birmingham 2024 are behind us. Thus, all the twelve teams participating in the tournament have been finalized. It’s been five years since the UK last saw the Dota 2 action live and a lot of things have changed since.

Last time, ESL One Birmingham was part of the Dota Pro Circuit. It was held at Arena Birmingham for five days, from 23rd May 2018 to 27th May 2018. Back then, the favorites, Virtus Pro, were crowned champions.
What is ESL One Birmingham 2024?

As previously mentioned, a lot of things have changed since 2018. However, some things remained the same. First off, let’s talk about the differences.

The ESL One Birmingham 2024 is now part of ESL Pro Tour Season 2. The 2024 iteration of the tournament will be giving EPL points, unlike its predecessor, which handed out DPC points.
Additionally, the 2022 iteration only gives four spots for direct invites, all given to the teams at the top of EPT Leaderboards. Teams from the qualifiers fill the remaining available slots.
The Participating Teams of ESL One Birmingham 2024
Twelve teams will be participating in the ESL One Birmingham 2024. Four teams received the direct invite, while the remaining eight came from the qualifiers. Team Spirit, the current International champions, also secured their ticket through the qualifiers.

Prize Pool And EPT Points Distribution for ESL One Birmingham 2024

ESL One Birmingham 2024 is the second LAN tournament of the ESL One Pro Tour Season 2. As part of it, the tournament will feature a million-dollar prize pool. The second iteration of ESL One Birmingham will give EPT points based on the team’s placement. You can view detailed information about the prize pool, and EPT points distribution below.

ESL One Birmingham 2024 Tournament Format
ESL One’s first LAN tournament of the year will follow its previous tournament’s formats. For the group stages, the featured twelve teams will be split into two groups, each containing six teams.
All the teams will play a Best-of-two series (Bo2) for the group stages. The top two teams will advance to the upper bracket of the playoffs after the series has been played. The third and fourth-placing teams will advance to the lower brackets of the playoffs. The remaining teams will get eliminated.
The playoffs feature a double-elimination bracket. Thus, upper-bracket teams will have a safety net. All the series in the playoffs will be Best-of-three(Bo3) except the grand-finals. The grand finals will feature a Best-of-five(Bo5) series.

The group stages of the tournament are from April 22nd to April 24th. The playoffs will begin on April 26th to April 28th. ESL One Birmingham 2024 will be live-streamed on ESL One’s Twitch and YouTube channel.
