After four days of nail-biting games, the first Group stage is over for the DreamLeague. Only the top four teams from both groups will move to the 2nd round of Group stage matches. The bottom eight teams will be eliminated. As of now, five teams have qualified,

  • Evil Geniuses
  • Gaimin Gladiators
  • Shopify Rebellion
  • Team Liquid
  • Tundra Esports

Eliminated Teams

The three remaining Dota 2 teams to qualify will be determined by tie-breakers, along with the elimination of 3. DreamLeague is eliminating half the teams during groups, which is different from DPC tournaments. The already eliminated teams are,

  • ex-HellRaisers
  • nouns
  • Talon Esports
  • Nigma Galaxy
  • Entity

Talon Esports and ex-HellRaisers getting eliminated was a shock to the fans. Both these teams took the number 1 spot in their regional qualifiers. But they seem misplaced on the international stage. Another surprise but not a surprise was Nigma Galaxy. With the temporary return of their star playerMiracle-, a change was expected. Even though he had his moments, the outcome was inevitable.

Recap of Day 4

Group A

EG was at the top for the first three days. However, on the last day, Gaimin Gladiators and Shopify Rebellion evened out the score. With a 2-0 victory against both their opponents, they qualified along with EG.

Entity, on the other hand, has been struggling recently and continues to. Losing most of the games, Entity dropped to the bottom of the group along with ex-HellRaisers.

Group B

Being the last game for Team Spirit, they needed a 2-0 victory against Nigma to secure their position on the leaderboard. Nigma would be eliminated from the tournament even if they got a 2-0 win. But in game 1 of the series, Nigma made sure Yatoro's Anti-Mage did not have a game. Although, in game 2, Spirit styled on Nigma with a brutal 30-2 kill lead, closing out the series with a tie. Talon stopped OG from securing their spot for the 2nd group stage, despite already receiving the 'eliminated' status.

Tundra got a 2-0 win against Nouns after a long 62-minute game, helping them qualify. Even though they played with a stand-in, this has not stopped the team.

Beastcoast was able to tie their series with Liquid, making it Liquid's 3rd loss in 14 games. This loss did not change the status of Liquid, but it helped Beastcoast compete for tie-breakers.

Upcoming Tie-breakers

Group A (12:00 pm CET)

Team Aster, Execration & TSM will be competing in a three-way tie-breaker for the last spot in their group. The remaining two teams will be eliminated. It will be a BO1 series and keep circling until one team wins against both the other teams.

Group B (3:30 pm CET)

In this group, there are two qualifying spots, with one team getting eliminated. OG, Spirit, and Beastcoast will go against each other in a three-way tie-breaker. Tune in for the action.

Group Stage 2

The 2nd group stage of DreamLeague will start on 14th April at 11:00 am. This will also be a set of brutal elimination series, with only 4 teams qualifying for the playoffs.
