Part of the regret that looms over most Dota 2 players’ heads is the fact that some hero sets were released and might never return. In the last couple of years, we have seen Valve trying to rectify this by introducing personas along with new sets designed specifically for them.

With this in mind, shortly after The International 2025, Valve released the Cosmic Heroes' Hoard 2025. This treasure features 17 new hero sets along with three new persona sets. Out of the three available, two can be obtained if you are either very lucky or roll through the thirteen non-rare drops.

Cosmic Heroes' Hoard 2025 — Featured Heroes

First, let’s check the full list of heroes and set names featured in the Cosmic Heroes' Hoard 2025:

  • Spirit Breaker (Taurid Twilight)
  • Enigma (Graviton Blackguard)
  • Void Spirit (Umbral Expanse)
  • Ancient Apparition (Frozen Nova)
  • Mirana (Photax Fluttercat)
  • Zeus (Photonic Father)
  • Phoenix (Star Sage)
  • Sven (Astral Schism)
  • Crystal Maiden (Narwolf Nebula)
  • Faceless Void (Chrononaut Continuum)
  • Marci (Cosmic Cartographer)
  • Phantom Assassin (Reaper of the Waning Veil)
  • Lina (Flame of Origin)
  • Tinker (Interstellar Astrarium — Rare)
  • Ogre Magi (Pisces Gemini — Rare)
  • Luna (Leonid Luminosity — Very Rare)
  • Earthshaker (Intergalactic Obliterator — Ultra Rare)

Highlighted Sets

The Cosmic Heroes' Hoard 2025 offers a strong lineup of sets. Among the non-rares, the highlights are Crystal Maiden and Phantom Assassin. Both showcase the heroes’ personas with a refreshed approach to their aesthetics.

There are plenty of sets, and opinions will vary, but my personal favorite is Sven. Enigma, Mirana, and Phoenix also bring interesting takes on the cosmic theme, diverging from their standard looks.

Finally, the Ultra Rare stands out as expected. Intergalactic Obliterator revives Earthshaker’s Planetfall and stirred some controversy upon release. Valve “removed” Planetfall to split it into parts, which introduced several bugs.

This is still the best looking persona/arcana ever made in Dota 2.

Is This the End of TI or the Start of Something Else?

As we mentioned when Valve announced Quartero’s Curios, the developers clarified that it “…isn’t meant to replace the big Dota events we’re working on…” With that in mind, this treasure could represent the last breath of this year’s International or the first step toward something new.

The cosmic theme ties closely to what we saw during The International 2025, but perhaps it will also carry over into the next major Dota 2 event. Thinking about this, the first thing that comes to mind is a revival of the Dark Moon event, which debuted nearly a decade ago, running from January 26 to February 6, 2017.

The event gave rise to the “Dark Moon Invoker” meme, which partially became reality later. Back then, Cataclysm wasn’t yet tied to Sunstrike, and Meteor didn’t summon extra units as it does now (if you get the level 20 talent). A modern version could bring a new final boss and perhaps even tease fresh mechanics, should Valve take that path.

For now, we wait. Stay tuned for the latest updates on roster shuffles, surprise retirements, and the Dota 2 professional circuit in the news section of the Strafe website!
