Dota 2 patch 7.38 has been out a few days and it has shaken the meta at all stages of play. Certain unpicked heroes have made a resurgence, while popular former picks are left in the dust.

After a one sided victory of Team Liquid, Falcon's coach and International five winner Kurtis "Aui_2000" Ling shared his feelings on working with Sumail "SumaiL" Hassan again, how to improve in Dota 2, and his thoughts on the new patch.

The first game between Team Falcons and Liquid was cancelled due to technical issues. Game two was played and a score of 33-7 says a lot.

After winning their stomp, Aui was asked how the team improved since the patch was introduced, and SumaiL fitting in with the squad.

"We definitely got a lot better with SumaiL. Even though we played with him before at Birmingham, it's always a bit difficult, us and Nigma play very different styles. Honestly it's not his fault, us other four played bad. I think [Liquid]'s draft was pretty bad, but I can't say for certain because it's a new patch."

Falcons has had an uneven performance the last few days, losing against Parivision and barely scraping ahead of Heroic. When asked how the team recovers after a loss, Kurtis explained that it's all about figuring out the problems players are facing.

"It's very important to identify what you did wrong. Sometimes it's just everything. And sometimes you don't really know what to do, so you just tell your players focus on yourselves, we understand what makes us good players, let's go back to the basics. That's why when we're playing bad, there's something wrong in the fundamental level. Like laning, how we are playing post lane. So you just try to fix what you can."

Aui_2000 on Tormentor: "It's a bit overhyped, but it probably is a bit too good right now."

Tormentor
Tormentors are a key objective added in patch 7.33.

One of the biggest changes in Dota 2 patch 7.38 is the earlier introduction of Tormentor. Teams can now take it down at 15 minutes, instead of 20. It also grants each player 250 gold, on top of the Aghanim Shard it bestows.

This has created a new objective for teams to fight over, and while Aui thinks Tormentors are important, he does feel they are slightly over-valued right now.

"It's probably a bit too much gold to be honest. It's a bit overhyped, but it probably is a bit too good right now."

As for the overall update, it goes without question that Dota 2 is all over the place right now, with new map areas, multiple new facets and ability reworks, and a whole new neutral item system. For Aui, so far the hero imbalances stand out the most.

"I think the hero balance is a little weird right now, it and tormentor. No high ground to ward now. I just put my ward on the ground."

The patch is still young and there is plenty more to discover. It will be interesting to see how teams adapt further as the patch gets explored.
