Lee Sin is a high-skill jungler in League of Legends known for early-game aggression, quick combos, and strong mobility. This guide explains how his kit works, what makes him strong, when he struggles, and how to make the most of his gameplay potential.
Lee Sin: Backstory and Lore
Many years ago, a young boy arrived at the Shojin monastery in Ionia, claiming that the dragon spirit had chosen him to wield his power. This child was Lee Sin and he was taken in by the elder monks despite visions of fire and pride within the him.
But while other pupils were trained to new heights, Lee Sin was kept cleaning dishes and scrubbing floors. Growing impatient, Lee Sin snuck into the hidden archives and found ancient texts that described how to call upon the spirit realm.
Seeking to flaunt his new power, Lee Sin unleashed the dragon's rage in a powerful strike during a combat lesson, paralyzing his instructor. Horrified and consumed with shame, Lee Sin was banished from the monastery.
Setting out to atone, he wandered far across the lands, helping as he could. Eventually, he met Udyr and the two forged a bond. As they travelled back home, the two heard news that Noxus had invaded and occupied Ionia.
When the two arrived back to see the monastery on the brink of destruction, Lee Sin finally embraced the dragon spirit within him. In a flash, he decimated the invaders. But he paid the price with his eyesight.
Staying to help the monks rebuild the monastery, Lee Sin now devotes himself toward the pursuit of enlightenment. He knows that the dragon's wrath was deadly but a mortal humble and worthy enough could counter it, and perhaps wield it to protect.
Lee Sin: Abilities Breakdown

Flurry (Passive)
After using an ability, Lee Sin’s next two basic attacks gain bonus attack speed and restore energy.
Sonic Wave // Resonating Strike
Lee Sin kicks a sonic blast in a straight line. If it hits an enemy, they are revealed and marked for a short time. While marked, Lee Sin can cast Resonating Strike to dash to them and deal damage based on their missing health.
Safeguard // Iron Will
Lee Sin dashes to an ally or ward. If it’s a champion, both get a shield. Lee Sin can self-cast Safeguard to gain a shield. After this dash, he can activate Iron Will to gain omnivamp for a few seconds.
Tempest // Cripple
Lee Sin slams the ground, marking, damaging and revealing enemies. If he hits an enemy, he can slow them shortly after with Cripple. Cripple applied decaying slow to nearby enemies marked by Tempest.
Dragon’s Rage (Ultimate)
Lee Sin roots a target enemy champion then performs a roundhouse kick, knocking back and damaging the target. If that target hits other enemies while airborne, those other enemies also take damage and are knocked up.
Power Spikes

Early Game (0–15 minutes)
Lee Sin is one of the best early-game junglers. He can start ganking from level 3, using his full ability combo to catch enemies off guard. His pressure forces enemy laners to play safe.
Once he hits level 6, Dragon’s Rage becomes a strong tool for kills or disengage. His first item gives him both damage and survivability, making him more dangerous in 1v1s.
Mid Game (15–25 minutes)
At this point, Lee Sin’s first ability will be maxed. He can burst down squishy targets. By level 11, his ultimate has two points, reducing cooldown and increasing impact.
With 2–3 items, he has options. He can focus on picks, peel for his backline, or zone the enemy backline with quick engages.
Late Game (25+ minutes)
Lee Sin starts to fall off in raw power. Other champions outscale him in team fights. He still offers strong utility by peeling or kicking threats into his team.
If he’s ahead, he can still pick off isolated targets. But his role shifts toward making smart plays rather than dealing damage.

Game Plan

Early Game
Gank early. Look for lanes pushed toward enemy towers. Land Sonic Wave before diving in. Use Safeguard for creative paths or tower dives. Keep a Control Ward for vision and ward-jumping.
Use your passive to clear camps efficiently. Don’t waste energy. Play around Scuttle Crab and jungle invades. Your goal is to build a lead before level 6.
Mid Game
Focus on vision and picks. Catch enemies in side lanes. Ward enemy jungle and use Sonic Wave to engage on isolated targets. In fights, try to kick high-priority enemies into your team.
Use Safeguard to avoid hard crowd control or to peel for allies. Time your combos carefully. You are not a tank, so wait for the right moment.
Late Game
Stick near carries. Use Dragon’s Rage to keep threats away or to split the enemy formation. Try to isolate the enemy jungler at objectives with a kick combo.
If your team lacks a tank, consider defensive items. Smart positioning and fast execution are more important than high damage at this stage.
