Riot Games has once again raised the bar with the upcoming release of the Nocturnum skinline in VALORANT, an offering that seamlessly intertwines terror and beauty.

Set to be available on August 29, 2024, this highly anticipated skinline plunges players into the depths of an ancient, forbidden ritual, unleashing powers both fearsome and mesmerizing.

At the heart of the Nocturnum skinline lies a powerful narrative—the Banished, ancient beings of darkness, have been waiting in the shadows for someone worthy to complete their dreadful ritual.

Weapons of the Night

The Nocturnum skinline features a lineup of the Phantom, Classic, Bulldog, and Marshal, along with a brand-new melee weapon—a transforming scythe.

This scythe, perhaps the crown jewel of the collection, is more than just a weapon. It is a vessel of power. With custom swipes, inspect animations, and a transformation capability that allows it to shift into a dagger, the scythe offers players a deeply immersive experience.

Each weapon in the Nocturnum skinline is adorned with custom kill banners and finishers. But the true magic is unlocked after you’ve killed each player on the enemy team once. Completing this task unleashes the full Nocturnum ritual. Thus summoning Noctis—the dark entity that swallows the world in darkness, enhancing the visuals of the finisher even further.

The skinline, with its transformative visual effects, offers players a choice between three variants: Black, Blue, and Yellow. Each one altering the finisher’s VFX to suit their preferred aesthetic.

Package Information

The Nocturnum skinline is available as a bundle, priced at 8,700 VP. The bundle includes the Phantom, Classic, Bulldog, Marshal, and the transformative melee weapon. Along with themed accessories like a gun buddy, a card, and a spray.

Episode 9 Act II: More Than Just Skins

Nocturnum isn’t the only new content arriving with Episode 9 Act II. Alongside the skinline, players can look forward to a fresh Battle Pass, offering a mix of both free and paid items.

Highlights include the Overlay Phantom, Lava Lamp Gun Buddy, and the animated Resting Wingman Spray. The Battle Pass, priced at 1,000 VP, is packed with both cosmetic items and in-game cards..

Additionally, a new agent named Vyse joins the VALORANT roster. This sentinel brings a unique kit focused on manipulating liquid metal to isolate, trap, and disarm enemies. Read more about Vyse and her abilities HERE.

Riot Games’ Product Manager, Laura Baltzer, encapsulates the vision behind Nocturnum:

"We wanted to make a skin that was a balance of terror and beauty. The finisher probably brings these two things together the most."

Baltzer further explains the thematic consistency carried through to the melee weapon, which "leans into this magical and transformative power just in a different way—the melee you can transform at will by using the inspect. We really liked that this felt very thematically appropriate for the skinline; it ends up making the experience feel very powerful and magical."

VALORANT New Bundle Nocturne Release Date

Nocturnum is set to be available to players on August 29, 2024. Just one day after the start of Episode 9 Act II. As the Banished watch from the shadows, waiting for the one capable of completing their ritual, players will soon have the opportunity to wield the dark power of Nocturnum and bring terror to their opponents.

Team Vitality CEO Neo: "For Us to be a Global Leader Means Being a Contender at EWC"

Team Vitality remains one of the most influential and well-known esports organizations to date. The Paris-based org fields over 20 esports teams in various esports, though their immensely impressive results in Counter-Strike take center stage.  Being one of the organizations present at Esports World Cup 2026 in Paris, we managed to speak with Fabien "Neo" Devide, Co-Founder and CEO of the Hive, just after an interview with Mike McCabe, COO of the Esports World Cup Foundation, at the opening press conference at EWC. Neo provided a ton of insight into the organization's participation at this year's edition of EWC in Paris. He expressed his desire for the org to perform to the highest standards, but also highlighted that rivalry is key to grow the ecosystem. Additionally, Neo gave strong opinions on the growth of mobile esports following last year's Vitality's takeover and merger with Indonesian side Bigetron, stressing the need for innovation and following ideas in the east, as much as the west.
