Earlier today, OG made a surprising announcement: their coach, Mikhail "Misha" Agatov, is parting ways with the team just weeks before The International 2024.

Misha first joined OG in September 2021 as a coach, but his journey with the team has been anything but ordinary. He briefly stepped into the role of a support player later that year before returning to coaching in March 2023, where he has remained until now.

Who's going to be the next coach for OG?

OG has faced challenges in maintaining consistency, despite their roster being filled with experienced and skilled players. The team has struggled to recreate the synergy that once defined their previous lineup—the same lineup that secured two consecutive International titles. This lack of chemistry has been evident in their uneven performances, highlighting the difficulty in putting everything together as they once did.

Amid the challenges of adjusting to Misha's departure, they took a moment to honor his significant contributions to the team. In their statement, OG expressed their gratitude and acknowledged Misha's vital role in shaping the team's identity:

"Today, we bid farewell to a long standing member of OG. One of the faces of OG 2.0, we will not forget your service. Thanks for everything."

In response, Misha shared his own heartfelt message, expressing deep gratitude to OG, his teammates, and the fans who supported him throughout his journey:

"I'm very grateful to fans, OG & players we've worked with last 3 years. I have learnt so many incredible things: how to win together, trust each other, how to be a team, a good human being and much more. Special thanks to Ceb & Johan for valuable life & Dota lessons. I will carry this experience with me forever. Thank you OG!" said Misha.

Just like in any sport, having a strong coach can make or break a team's success. Coaches play a pivotal role in drafting, shaping the team's playstyle, providing mental support, conducting research, offering analytical insights, and much more.

With Misha's departure from OG, the team finds itself in a delicate situation. On one hand, this change could be the catalyst for a new and improved team dynamic, potentially addressing what has been missing. On the other hand, finding someone to come in and steer the ship is never an easy task.
