Esports Nations Cup 2026 Qualifiers Preview
The Esports Nations Cup 2026 Regional Qualifiers are about to begin, and we will take a look at the list of participating countries fighting for a slot in the tournament, which is scheduled to take place on November 2 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
All Regional Qualifiers will start on June 29 and conclude on July 1. The EWC Foundation will hold qualifiers across eight regions, with every region receiving two slots except North America and Sub-Saharan Africa, which will receive only one each.

ENC 2026: North America Qualifliers
It may seem a bit unusual that North America has only one slot, but the USA already secured a direct invite through the ranking and, even after including countries from Central America, there are only seven candidates:
- Canada
- Cuba
- Costa Rica
- Mexico
- Honduras
- Guatemala
- Panama
Canada is the standout team in this region, with many well-known players joining the roster and most likely securing North America’s slot. Mexico also features some notable players, but none that realistically seem capable of challenging the strength of the Canadian lineup.
ENC 2026: Sub-Saharan Africa Qualifliers
The Sub-Saharan African region is slightly larger than North America, with nine countries competing for a single slot due to the region’s smaller presence in terms of results and notable Dota 2 players. Here is the list of countries competing in the African Qualifiers:
- Nigeria
- Ghana
- South Africa
- Cameroon
- Zambia
- Malawi
- Côte d'Ivoire
- Kenya
- Madagascar
This region has no clear favorite, making it an interesting opportunity to see the level of competition among African countries. At the same time, it could also become a chance to scout hidden talent from the region.
ENC 2026: South America Qualifliers
South America also has a relatively small pool of teams, but the organization decided to allocate two slots, possibly due to the increasing number of competitive South American teams emerging in the Dota 2 scene over the past few months.
Here is the list of South American candidates:
- Chile
- Peru
- Paraguay
- Colombia
- Argentina
- Venezuela
- Ecuador
- Bolivia
Brazil took Peru’s slot at the last minute after LGD Gaming made an impressive run at Blast Slam VII. This leaves Peru as a clear favorite to secure one of the slots immediately, leaving the remaining spot open for the rest of the field.
ENC 2026: South and East Asia Qualifliers
We are all familiar with Southeast Asia, but interestingly, South and East Asia is being treated as a separate region. This may actually be one of the most favorable regions considering that only five countries will compete for two slots.
These are the candidates in the South and East Asia Qualifiers:
- Mongolia
- Bangladesh
- India
- Pakistan
- Sri Lanka
Mongolia has a strong history in previous national events and likely enters as the favorite to secure a slot. Considering the known players available, Pakistan could claim the second spot by relying on Yawar "YawaR" Hassan’s experience.
ENC 2026: Southeast Asia and Oceania Qualifiers
This is arguably the strongest region after Europe, featuring many players active in the professional Dota 2 circuit and even one of the few two-time TI winners representing Team Australia.
Despite the similar structure to South and East Asia, this region has several strong contenders. Here is the list of candidates for Southeast Asia and Oceania:
- New Zealand
- Australia
- Philippines
- Thailand
- Myanmar
Australia, the Philippines, and Thailand have defined this region for the last decade and should be the main countries battling for the two available slots.
ENC 2026: Middle East, Northern Africa and Central Asia Qualifiers
In terms of numbers, this is the largest region in the Regional Qualifiers, with 14 candidates competing for two slots at the Esports Nations Cup.
Despite the large number of contenders, the region has only one clear favorite. Take a look at the list of participants in the Middle East, Northern Africa and Central Asia Regional Qualifiers:
- Turkmenistan
- Tajikistan
- Turkey
- Georgia
- Uzbekistan
- Kyrgyzstan
- Syria
- Azerbaijan
- Saudi Arabia
- Lebanon
- Egypt
- Tunisia
- Algeria
- Iran
Lebanon is the powerhouse of this region, featuring several major names and a TI winner. The second slot remains open for an unexpected contender, but Akbar "SoNNeikO" Butaev could be the difference-maker that gives Team Uzbekistan an edge over their adversaries.
ENC 2026: Eastern Europe Qualifiers
On top of being extremely competitive, Eastern Europe is another region with 14 contenders fighting for two slots at the Esports Nations Cup.
There are at least four strong candidates with the best chances of advancing. Here is the list of Eastern European countries:
- Greece
- Serbia
- Hungary
- Israel
- Czechia
- Slovenia
- Croatia
- Lithuania
- Romania
- Latvia
- Slovakia
- Kosovo
- Estonia
- Montenegro
Romania, Czechia, Serbia, and Greece appear to have the strongest chances, but Czechia may hold the advantage due to its star players being more active in recent professional Dota 2 metas.
There is also the surprising inclusion of Israel in the Eastern European Regional Qualifiers instead of the Middle East, where the country is more commonly grouped in geopolitical discussions.
ENC 2026: Western Europe Qualifiers
Finally, the sacred land of professional Dota 2 arrives in Western Europe, which surprisingly has fewer contenders than expected due to the large number of direct invites awarded through the Esports Nations Cup Ranking.
Here are the countries competing for the two Western European slots:
- Norway
- Italy
- Belgium
- Switzerland
- France
- Great Britain
- Ireland
- Iceland
- Portugal
- Finland
The biggest surprise in Western Europe is the absence of several renowned names across multiple rosters. No Topson, JerAx, or MATUMBAMAN announcement for the Finnish lineup, and no Ari for Great Britain's roster either.
Fortunately, Ceb is listed as part of Team France, Davai Lama is also present on Belgium’s roster, and despite Ari’s absence, TeaGuvnor decided to step in and help Team Great Britain.
Closing Thoughts
The Esports Nations Cup brings to esports the same excitement of seeing countries compete at the highest level that we usually associate with the FIFA World Cup, while also helping set the tone for the remainder of the year leading up to the tournament on November 2.
The organizers of the qualifiers have not disclosed the format that invited nations will use to compete for qualification, but considering that some regions feature an odd number of teams, a round-robin format seems more likely.

By that point, we will already know the champions of both the Esports World Cup and The International 2026, while also adjusting to a new season as most esports prepare for a short break in December.
