Riot’s newest champion for League of Legends, Corvin Locke, arrives as a nail-slinging exorcist versed in forbidden rites, shaped by a childhood steeped in Demacian lies and hypocrisy. Born to Demacian occultists, Locke grew up learning a brutal lesson: demons are not the source of humanity’s darkness, but its consequence. That belief drives his mission now—to tear through every soul, expose its hidden rot, and make the world a little more honest, one exorcism at a time.

That premise gives Locke a sharper edge than a standard gothic hunter archetype. He is not simply purging evil but confronting the uncomfortable idea that people often create the monsters they fear.

Abilities Breakdown:

Locke’s gameplay identity centers on a simple but expressive loop: mark, pressure, and execute. His kit revolves around Soul Nails, which give him a distinct rhythm in lane and in fights.

Passive - Silver Stake

Locke Passive - Silver Stake

Silver Stake gives Locke bonus magic damage on-hit, with increased damage against low-health enemies. That immediately gives him stronger cleanup potential and rewards opportunistic play. It also helps define him as a threat who becomes deadlier as fights break down.

Q - Ritual Nails

Locke Q - Ritual Nails

This is the core of his kit. Locke readies Soul Nails and throws them forward, dealing magic damage and marking enemies hit. The nails slow based on stacks, and when Locke attacks a marked target, he consumes those Soul Nails to deal additional damage per stack. If some nails remain unspent, he restores part of the cooldown and mana.

W - Soul Ignition

Locke W - Soul Ignition

Locke’s W is where his kit becomes more dangerous and more self-destructive. When activated, he releases his own seals to gain decaying movement speed, but pays for that power with % health true damage over time. In return, he heals back a portion of damage taken (including from his own W) when recasting the ability to end it early.

E - Ashen Pursuit

Locke E - Ashen Pursuit

Ashen Pursuit gives him the burst mobility expected from an assassin, but it is structured in a way that supports his execution fantasy. He blinks to a location and deals magic damage around him, then his next attack dashes to the target and damages enemies in his path. Both hits consume Soul Nails, making the spell part engage tool, part damage extension, and part execution setup. On takedown, the cooldown resets, which gives him the momentum to keep moving if he secures a kill.

R - Purgatory (Ultimate)

R - Purgatory (Ultimate)

Purgatory is the defining piece of his kit and the strongest expression of his identity. He kicks a binding artifact to a location, where it opens on arrival and fires chained Soul Nails at enemies in the area. Those affected are slowed and marked, and champions brought below the threshold are pulled inside and killed.

The ultimate gets even more dangerous in extended fights. If one champion is executed, the duration is reset on other affected champions, allowing Locke to keep the pressure rolling across multiple targets. After a few seconds, the artifact seals itself and remains on the ground if anyone was sealed inside. If Locke picks it up, he permanently increases the execution threshold and refunds a portion of his current cooldown for every champion sealed.

Ultimately, Locke stands out because his kit and story reinforce the same idea: power has a cost, and truth is something he forces into the open. With his nail-driven setup, self-damaging steroid, and escalating execute pressure, he feels like he could be a champion built for players who want style, precision, and a little moral darkness in every fight.
