LYON are through to the Worlds 2026 quarterfinals after a hard-fought 2-1 comeback victory over LOS on Saturday, October 31. The LCS representative lost the opening game but fought back to eliminate Brazil's last remaining team from the League of Legends World Championship.

The match took place in the fifth and final round of the Swiss Stage, with both teams facing elimination. LYON finished the stage with a 3-2 record and advanced to the playoffs, while LOS exited the tournament at 2-3, one series win short of a historic first World Championship playoff appearance for a CBLOL team.

How Did LYON Come Back to Beat LOS?

LOS took Game 1 in 35 minutes and 10 seconds, recording 11 kills to LYON's eight. The Brazilian side finished with 68,360 gold compared to LYON's 60,465, a lead of nearly 8,000. Wallyson “Duduhh” Francisco stood out on Kai'Sa, finishing with a 4/1/2 KDA and 403 CS.

Game 2 was the most dramatic of the series. LYON fell roughly 8,000 gold behind, putting LOS within reach of the quarterfinals. But the North American team rallied in a tense game that lasted more than 47 minutes, eventually destroying the Brazilian side's Nexus to level the series at 1-1 and force a decider.

In Game 3, LYON completed the comeback with a win in 36 minutes and 46 seconds. The team recorded 17 kills to LOS's seven and finished 4,336 gold ahead. Kim “Berserker” Min-cheol was one of the standouts on Lucian, ending the game with an 8/3/6 KDA as LYON secured their playoff spot.

LOS Fall One Win Short After Swiss Stage Recovery

For LOS, the defeat ended a comeback campaign of their own. The Brazilian team opened the Swiss Stage with losses to T1 and G2 Esports, leaving them one loss away from elimination.

They responded by sweeping Team Secret Whales 2-0 and then eliminating Team Liquid 2-1 to reach the final Swiss round. A win against LYON would have made LOS the first CBLOL team to qualify for the Worlds playoffs, but the North American side ended that run.

LYON Keep the LCS Alive at Worlds 2026

Brazilian teams had already knocked out two of the LCS's three representatives. FURIA eliminated Cloud9 3-1 in the Play-In Stage, while LOS later sent Team Liquid home in the Swiss Stage.

That left LYON as the last LCS team standing. By beating LOS, LYON avoided a clean sweep of the region by Brazilian teams and booked a place in the best-of-five quarterfinals, beginning November 3.
